I've been using BuBfree to back up to my memory stick with the following problem, and wondering if anyone has a solution.

I notice that when I do a restore, I get all my old files in addition to the current ones.  The last time I did this, it left so little space in internal rom because there were so many files, that I got a fatal error message unless I turned off the hacks, which I'm guessing was freeing up just enough memory to let it work.  I can't get rid of the old files (or even BuB from the MS) unless I do a format, and then I also lose all the other files I've stored on it.

That's what I've ended up doing, and it's a lot of work to restore (incl. going on line to look for literature that I didn't save copies of), and of course, many settings (such as bookmarks/last page viewed) are lost.  :(

Anybody know the solution?

When you restore, is the device factory fresh? Or have you used it and added things to it?

What I did when I did a memory stick restore with backup buddy was:

Hard reset the unit (after the problem)
Then do the restore immediatley after without putting anything on it.

I do the same procedure but it loads up old deleted files along with the current stuff. As I think more about it, it might have something to do with the 'cleaning orphaned files' task which doesn't work. I'm now hoping that by reinstalling BuB, that feature will work more than just the first time.
