I hope someone can help me with this as Im a new to PDAs and their operations.
How can I pick some songs from say, my Avril Lavigne CD and install them on my NX60 thru my computer (perhaps as MP3s).
Please make your suggestions in simple English as I am not very familiar with PDAs much less their technology.
Thank you very much friends!

Jessica, this is not meant to be negative towards you so dont take it that way - TankerBob (or someone else with a Clie related website) can you post instructions regarding this on your web site so that when the next person asks this question we can redirect them???? This question gets asked alot.

Jessica, first you will need to get a program for your PC or Mac which "rips" and "encodes" MP3 files from a normal CD. You can find many of these here (http://download.com.com) Be sure to read each program's reviews and find out how they have worked for others like you.
If you do a google search (here) (http://www.google.com) on how to encode MP3's you will all the information you need and then some.
I personally prefer programs that are designed solely for the purpose of encoding MP3s but there are many combo programs such as MUSICMATCH which also play (on PC's) and organize them for you.
Next you need to put the MP3's on your Clie. It is unlikely you will fit more than one or two on the Clie itself so you will need to obtain a Memory stick. All types of memory stick will work for this (regular, select, Pro). Your clie manual I think tells you how to go from here as far as putting them on your memory stick.
The easiest way BY FAR to do this is if you have a USB card reader or Sony computer with a memory stick reader built in, you can simply open up the folder marked "palm"
then open up the folder marked "programs"
then open up the folder marked "MSAUDIO"
Insert your MP3's into here, put the memory stick back in your Clie and they will now play on your Audioplayer application.
In my opinion this is really only worth doing if you have a memory stick (as an apporximate general guideline, cd quality MP3's generally use about 1megabyte per minute of music, so buy your memorystick accordingly). It is also very much worth it in my view to own a memory stick reader whether it be a USB add-on device or built in.
Hope that helps

CDEx makes it real easy to get MP3's out of a CD.

I've been using AudioCatalyst for years now, no probs, it even names the songs and adds id3 tags

Problem with AudioCatalyst is that it uses the Xing libraries, which are known for high speed and baaaaaaad quality.
CDex (as well as 90% of all ripper programs) uses L.A.M.E. (LameAintaMP3Encoder) which most would agree, has the best quality!

the problem with the copying to MS Audio Folder is that it doesn't work for everyone... mine gets angry and tells me that there is some copyright error. there is some way to get around this, but I don't remember exactly how and considering te number of mp3s i have, it's not the top of my list of prioirities.
