View Full Version : Clie Movie Player Question

I live in Australia and I've just got a new NZ-90 (which I absolute love), but I'm having lots of problems trying to view movies. Maybe I'm just pushing the technology too hard, but from some of the other posts I've seen, I should be able to play movies.

I've downloaded a couple of file of TV programs of the internet. They're avi's mostly, but I have then attempted to convert them to the mqv format using the Converter.
* Some of the files won't transfer at all - they give the message that the "file format is not supported" (I presume this is because they are not MPEG1 format).
* Some of the files will convert - but I cannot change any options other than the ability to send the file to the memory stick in High definition, Low or Standard quality (ie all other otpions are greyed out eg change orientation etc).

Once the file is installed from my Clie, when I hit play the movie it jumps from the starting point (ie 0:00) to the end (eg 22:54) and then loops this start, finish continuously - effectively locking the unit up. The only way to get out is to do a soft reset.

I've even uninstalled the Movie converter for PAL TV 's and re-installed the NTSC version - just in case the orgin of file needs this, but it hads made no difference.

So my questions are these:
* Is it possible to watch these movies on my Clie?
* What are the different formats and how can I tell which one is which?
* If I have the wrong format is there an easy way to convert to the proper one?
* Why am I not getting any further options in the converter to be able to change some of these feature? (Or is it a movie format problem? ie as in last question)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry ... NO HELP ... but I have had the same problem.

I saved 3 short films from the same site, all in the same format. One by one I loaded them onto the MS and played each one before deleting it and then loading the next one. FIRST film played beautifully. 2dn and 3rd did the same thing as above, i.e. an instantaneous, continuous loop, start to finish ... required a soft reset.

I used the standard 'converter' to send the films to the MS.

Cheers in advance.
