New feature: "Smart List" (in advanced options, on by default for all apps). Adjusts list height to eliminate blank space at the bottom when using fonts of non-standard height.

Let me know if this crashes any apps that previously worked.

Anybody who is new to FontSmoother should look at www.zlthemes.com/Programs.php first

well...20 minutes here, 30 minutes there....LOL

These applications are just SO good, I think I'd find it hard to not play
with them if they were my creation...

SoS does it make the lifedrive any slower? I have never really used font smoother on my LD and have only tried it once on my T3. But as time goes by i'd like my LD to look more "up to date". So please tell me your expirences with the LD and Font Smoother.

FontSmoother makes the display of text slower. Since fonts need to be loaded, it might slightly slow down application launching, but caching should take care of a lot of that. Execution of code should not be slowed down, unless the code is doing a lot of text drawing.

To be honest, I havent really noticed a significant slowdown but even if there is, I would still use it - it is absolutely superb and transforms the device imho. Just make sure the font 'darkness' is set to '0' or a small -ve number, otherwise the fonts 'bleed' a little - at least on my LD screen. I am also using it in combination with fonts4OS5. They go together very well...In any case, why not try it (and check out mykbd while you are at it, which is equally fantastic).

Metaview,

heres a screen shot - Zlauncher (stealthOS skin) with fontsmoother (nimbus font set) and the 'OSX' keyboard for mykbd...screenshot taken with HRcaptDA launched from a mykbd macro - powerful medicine!! :) :) :)

Alex,

I'm still wringing things out but thusfar I haven't experienced anything untoward with the beta on my TX.

Does the time display in the status bar have to be smooth too or is there an option to keep it the default font?

There is no such option. I suppose I could add such an option.

Not sure if this is new or not, but I just noticed it. I use Trebuchet MS 13pt as my default font on a T|X. All the lists under Info, Category, Beam, Delete, etc, are one line short. When you scroll down by a page, you skip over one item. The "smart lists" checkbox doesn't make any difference. I tried a slightly larger font size and that fixed it, but I'm surprised it happened at all, and makes me wonder if the same thing isn't happening in other scrolling lists.

I would love to use FS in Blazer, but when I enable it, the background colors on many web sites make the text unreadable. Is there a way you could force a white background on text, over-riding the application colors?

I would love to use FS in Documents-To-Go, but the text alignment is off, which makes editing very hard. The flashing "cursor" looks like it is in one spot, but it's really a few characters left or right. Could you make an AA version of the "system" font, with dimensions exactly matching the original font? Seems like that would help with buggy apps like DTG.

Everything else is perfect.

Thanks for such a great enhancement!

Seems likely. Have you tried turning off the smart list mode?

Well, you can do quite a lot by turning off background images (fast mode) in Blazer.

I would love to use FS in Documents-To-Go, but the text alignment is off, which makes editing very hard. The flashing "cursor" looks like it is in one spot, but it's really a few characters left or right.

Have you tried turning ebook mode off/on?

I used to supply "standard" fonts which had less even spacing but which solved this problem. I could send some to you. Email me if ebook mode toggling doesn't help.

Yes, I tried both settings of the "smart list" option and it didn't make any difference.

Email me if ebook mode toggling doesn't help. The ebook option shifts things around a bit, but the alignment is still so far off that editing is difficult. I would really appreciate getting your "standard" fonts. I'll PM you with my email address. THANKS!

Try http://www.prussfamily.us/FS.zip in Smart List mode.

Thanks for the update Alex. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. The "smart lists" option doesn't seem to do anything. See the attached screen shot. The last line on the screen has a blank area where the missing item should be.

Is there any way you can update the PRC file on ZLthemes.com to 1.75. I just downloaded it, and it brought me from 1.74 to 1.73! I guess the PRC is still from verison 1.73, and that is the easiest way to update for me. Thanks!

I'm fairly certain you can get 1.75 from Palmgear.

Slight pet peeve . . . Palm application desktop installation that creates folders, deposits files, creates shortcust to them, when there is no hotsync conduit to install, i.e. defiles the desktop just to load a .prc to the installer!

Minor rant . . . feeling less stressed already.

Easier for new users. I was tired sending tech support emails to people who didn't install YAHM or forgot to install fonts.

Experienced users can download .sit file from palmgear.com or .zip file from zlthemes.com.

Note that the desktop app is smaller (better compression!) than the zip. It also installs the Quick Make Font desktop application.

I said the same thing until I noticed the links to the prc and zip files at the top of the ZLthemes page. (Got in the habit of not reading and just clicking on the download button, which is probably why pruss made the installer, for those people like me who don't read that stuff (and have never installed it before).)

I guess in my hurry I missed the zip file at ZLThemes. I knew you had provided that option in the past. Glad you offer both! ;)
