I would appreciate any opinions about my issue, I think my battery is lasting less than it should. To test this quickly, y my clie and played started played mp3s. Lasted less than 30 min! and yes, it was on hold.

I think there's something wrong with my battery, and I bought it 2 months ago.

I still love it, and use it everyday, but it is getting very difficult to use it with so little battery life.

Any opinions? suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

this may sound obvious but have you tried lowering your screen brightness all the way. That drastically improved battery life for me even when it was closed. I cant explain it either.

Check your Audio Player settings. If it is set to background play, and repeat, it might be that it is playing MP3s all the time, even when you think it is off.

If you don't think that is the problem, it's possible it has a bad battery, but I would try a hard reset to test it first. I have seen cases where some software got screwy and drastically affected battery life. You could test this by hard resetting and playing MP3 with no other software installed.

Perform a hot sync to back up your data first.

To "Hard" reset, hold the power buttond down while pressing reset, and CONTINUE to hold the power button until you see the Palm Powered logo on the screen. If you did it correctly, when you release power you will see a message on screen warning you about erasing your memory and asking you to confirm by pressing the "up" key. Press up to hard reset the unit and it will clear the memory and be reset to factory defaults. Note that this is the up-scroll key near the power switch, not the Page Up (PgUp) key on the keyboard.

Thanks for the reply..!

Actually, i turn the backlight off. Turning it on, even the lowest setting, makes the battery drain a lot faster. With the backlight off, i get to use it my while I am at school to take notes, add stuff to the date book, and listen to about 20 min of music, sometimes a little more, as long as i don't turn on the backlight. I am kinda used to this, but still, i think it shouldn't last this little...

again, thanks!

Assuming that you did test your battery in the HOLD position, the NR70/V should be able to play MP3's much longer than 30 minutes. When the machine is on hold, the CPU will be inactive (or, very, very low energy state), and only the MP3 chip will draw power to play your music. Therefore I do not think this is a software issue, but rather is your battery. Either that or there is something wrong with the MP3 chip. I believe there's a much greater chance of a battery problem.

I think so too... still, I will try the hard reset "Just in case". If don't get good results, I'll try to send it to sony because it should still be in warranty.

Thanks all for your help!

If you only bought your Clie two months ago can you not take it back and have the battery replaced under warranty?
