the Brothers Chap over at homestarrunner.com have began releasing video podcasts of Strongbad emails...thats the good, the bad is that they are in M4V format which, while it can be played by TCPMP, plays rather poorly on my TH55. Any way to convert m4v to a more palatable format? I'm posting this question while simultaneously googling but I figure throwing this out there can't be to bad.

Try this:
mpeg encoder (http://www.imtoo.com/mpeg-encoder.html)

What's the difference between the pay and the free versions of mpeg encoder? Also do you know if it can output clie-formatted mpeg4 files?
Well, you could also have checked out the post prior to yours in this forum ;)

Of course, instead of using H.264, you'd have to change a few things. Bitrate will have to go up, and you'll need the following:
mux="avi"
vcodec="mp1v"
acodec="mpga"
You might have to play around with bitrate until you get one that is both watchable and playable.

You should be able to play those .m4v files directly in TCPMP as long as you have the AAC plugin installed. It isn't included in the TCPMP download, but if you Google it, it should be the first hit. (I think rarewares.com has it.)
