Verizon sent me another Treo 650 (the headphone jack was stuck "on" and the mic and speaker wouldn't work). The phone works fine. So far, so good.

It won't hotsync. Windows keeps discovering it as new hardware, but cannot find the driver. Not on the installation CD, not in the palmone directory.
I've removed Palm Desktop. Tech Support (palmone) has removed some of the registry entries. We've reinstalled Palm Desktop, once from the new web download, once from the installation CD. In every circumstance, windows keeps re-discovering it as new hardware, saying it can't find a driver and offering to disconnect the device.

Anybody know what is going on?

Steve

Is the hotsync cable plugged into the USB slot on your motherboard? Do you have a USB cable for a digital camera plugged in? Are you using a USB hub? Try unplugging all other USB devices and connecting hotsync cable directly to the motherboard USB.

Did you turn off ALL other applications when running the install, particularly any firewalls and antivirus?

Are you using a Dell Computer and have you tried changing all references to COM1 in Hotsync Manager to COM3 (I've been doing this since last century)?

Is your computer running XP Media Center 2004 or 2005? If 2005 I have seen reports of problems at Brighthand with no posted resolutions.

Have you tried rebooting the computer?

Cable gone bad? Do you have another to try?

That's it for my first round of suggestions. Hope they help.
