I keep seeing threads discussing the battery strength on the NZ.... and I like reading them.

But folks aren't saying up front whether their backlight is on or off, which drastically changes the battery life.

So that's why I created this poll... just curious.

I keep mine on, but with the brightness set to the lowest setting. Perhaps your poll options should be: Yes, Brightness set to lowest setting
Yes, Brightness set to 25%
Yes, Brightness set to 50%
Yes, Brightness set to 75%
Yes, Brightness set to 100%
No, I keep it off

I always keep my brightness set to full. I go in and outside so many times a day its the only way my eyes can adjust!

true... maybe I should have added more brightness specifics. but the main thing I wanted to know is yes or no.. :) so far yes is the winner.

Obviously YES?! Why buy a pda with such a beautiful and screen and not use the back light? Would you not use the backlight on your laptop or yoru digital watch?? Not meaning to be a jerk mind you.

That being said, I typically keep my backlight between 50-100% save for while reading at night when I crank it down all the way because its so bright!

??

What would I use in lieu of, a flashlight? I keep mine at the lowest setting which is usually plenty bright.

I keep the back light on, but it is set to the lowest setting. I also have the Bluetooth transmitter turned off until I need it. The same is true for the IR port, I keep Beam Receive off.

Depends on the time of day. When I'm at work, it's charging all day, so I leave it on the brightest setting. Ditto for when I'm outside. I turn it down to about 30% when I want to conserve the battery at home. I'm anxious for the next release of Energy Dimmer because I think you can set it up to make the changes automatically with profiles.

The NZ90 screen is the most impressive of all PDA's not to mention even notebooks. Why would you not run the backlight at the very least on the lowest setting. This is what I run mine on and it is still brighter and more impressive than most notebook LCD monitors. This is why there is a 0% vote on no backlight.

I gave up on keeping it at 50%. I set it at 100%. There are people here (please no flames) who say the lowest setting is good enough. Trust me. It is NOT. Unless they are always working outdoor or where indirect lighting is plenty, its dim.

This to me as as bad as my father in law who bought a 4mp camera but shoots only in "normal" mode. Why? You paid the money for the 4mp and youre not using it. His pictures are crappy becuase its shooting about 2mp quality.
