Hey all. Can you help me decide between Datebk5 and Agendus?
I'm trying to decide which is best for my needs. Obviously I know that I need to try them both out. I'm trying Datebk right now. I'll try Agendus out when I get the hang of Datebk and a feel for how I'd use it personally.
I am mainly trying to find the best app to manage my time based upon a todo/task list of things that I need to accomplish. Then take that list and plan out my day. For instance I love how you can see what is due in advance as a floating todo in Datebk5.
I know some people swear by one or the other, but I'm still new to both apps. Which is best for this specific type of application?
btw thanks for the opinions.

Did you do any searches? The DateBk vs. Agendus wars are varied and many . . . several long threads with lots of info/opinions. I don't know that we need another one! ;)

What welljs said...if you had done a simple forum search with using the keywords 'Agendus' and 'DateBk', you would have stumbled on a recent thread covering this discussion quite well. Go to http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107224&highlight=agendus+datebk
BTW, Agendus get my vote.

Hi,
I definitely agree with the above people with there being plenty of threads about DateBk vs Agendus.
You may want to look at a Taskmanager or an outlining app as that may suit your needs more than a full datebook app.

Hey all. Can you help me decide between Datebk5 and Agendus?
While both apps do both, Agendus is more geared towards Contact management, Datebook is more towards time management.
Agendus has a desktop version.

If you're into the quadrant approach (Important/Not Important - Urgent/Not Urgent), Agendus Pro lets you assign tasks to a quadrant. They call it a matrix. You can also assign the priority and then sequence quadrant within priority or priority within quadrant. You can also display a quadrant view (they call it a matrix view). Since you can also use small fonts, you can get an overview very quickly.
Note that only Agendus Pro has this feature.

Datebk5 (or actually I use now Datebk6 which is officially still in beta) is my favourite. I think Datebk is better for tasks, which is more important for me than integration with contacts (in which Agendus is better). I also get the impression (please correct me if I'm wrong) that Agendus has many more upgrades for which you have to pay. Datebk is regularly updated, but there is no charge for minor upgrades. If you would purchase datebk5 now, you will not have to pay for Datebk6 when it is out of beta. You can in fact already purchase Datebk6, it is already very stable.
There are more applications around for project management, such as Bonsai or Shadowplan. I use Bonsai, which is very nice. I don't have any experience with Shadowplan.

There are more applications around for project management, such as Bonsai or Shadowplan. I use Bonsai, which is very nice. I don't have any experience with Shadowplan.Bonsai and Agendus work in tandem, i.e. link ToDos between them. When you complete a linked ToDo in Agendus, the completed status/date get updated in Bonsai. If you're in Bonsai and mark the linked outline line item completed, it shows as completed in Agendus. This may be more the functionality you're looking for.
I own/use both Agendus and Bonsai. I must admit I haven't had the need/desire to implement the Agendus matrix feature. I may at some future date if life becomes more complicated! ;)

I started with Datebk but over the years started using other tools. The effort to add links etc. was to great and didn't carry over to Outlook.
Most of my tracking centers around Outlook thru notes, contacts and tasks. I also started journals to track some daily work efforts....
I now use A5 for weekly schedules, DES Journal for Daily Journal, MPlanner for monthly adding activities, PsMemo for all notes and finally Quickphone for adding phone numbers.......
As I added and used these tools I finally deleted DateBk....this approach especially the daily journal allow retention of the material (notes, tasks dates) in outlook until I wish to delete it....
