I don’t know what’s wrong with my vz90 since I also have ux50 and th55. Both ux50 and th55 recognize my sony 2gb memory stick pro duo high speed with no problem at all. I wonder why vz90 could not recognize my 2gb memory stick since vz90 is the last clie model produced by sony.

Can anyone help me on this matter? Do you have a patched driver file for this?

Thanks!

Pelican7, if you've got Sony branded memory sticks then your problem is that they are (most likely) non-original Sony. Ie, copies from China.

I had the same problem with my 1 & 2GB memory sticks - both worked on my UX-40 & UX-50 but not my VZ-90. At first I thought it was, as you've queried, a compatibility issue, so I purchased CF memory which worked fine.

I've since (just recently) purchase 2 x 1GB & 1 x 2GB Sandisk memory sticks and all work perfectly well. So, stay away from Sony memory sticks - use them on your other Clies.

Hope this reply is relevant...

A 2GIG Sony Memory Stick Pro DUO made in Japan has worked flawlessly in my VZ-90. I haven`t tried a highspeed one but i heard it is kind of pointless in a SONY CLIE since they are more designed for Digital Cameras with large megapixel resoultions who want to take multiple photos in short span of time.

Seymour, you're absolutely right! Thanks a lot! I just found out today the 2gb sony memory stick pro duo high speed i bought last sunday was made in china. No wonder it's very cheap. So today, i went back to the shop to exchange it to 2gb sandisk memory stick pro duo. Now, it's working perfectly. Thanks guys!

FYI, Sony officially anounced (a while ago...) that sony branded memory sticks 1gig and above don't support Clies. They might work, but with some problems.

Intellidryad, I believe Sony's announcements are just a cover-up (protecting the brand name). Copies from China are a huge (enormous) problem...

Do you have a website link for this?

Do you have a website link for this?

I saw that too on the Vaio support website recently.

Has anyone tried the 4G CF? I have the Kingston Elite Pro and it only recognizes 2GB worth of it. Before I reformated it after adding movies and not being able to access files, I thought it listed the 4GB, but now I'm not sure if it was my imagination. If any of you use a 4GB CF or 4GB MS or MS duo, let me know which brand works for you. Thanks.

Both Normal Sony Memory Stick Pro and Duo will say MADE IN JAPAN/JAPAN on the back of the sticks. As for the ones in CHINA i am not sure. Possible they might even be conunterfiet and not say where its made.

In case anyone is intersted in the 4GB CF Kingston Elite Pro. I can add files to the card, but all of the programs on the VZ90 doesn't recognize the files once I've added more than 2GB worth. TCPMP, audible.com, ZLauncher, and e-reader type programs still allow you to access the files after 2GB. The audible.com program only sees part of the audio books, but it plays the one it sees. FMP and Pocket Tunes, see the files, but lock up your system if you try to play them. Media Launcher, doesn't see or recognize that the files exist.
