Hi guys,
I'm making my move back to palm after a brief stint with a Dell Axim. So far, I'm loving the TX, but I can't get it to sync over wifi.
I've tried following both of these links to get wifi hotsync to work with my mac, but it seems like my TX doesn't even have the same options as those described in the tutorials. For instance, in one of the tutorials it simply says to select "Wifi" in the "network service box"; I don't have wifi as a choice. link (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(40507)#hotsync)
The other tutorial mentions similar actions in Part 3, but it seems like I have a whole different version of hotsync or something!link (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(23591))
I gave missing sync a try hoping to solve the problem, but still no luck.
Can anyone offer any help? I'm sure that PC users would have the same problem, because my TX just doesn't offer the option of wifi hotsync! What's going on?
Thanks for your help guys!
Cheers
Roger
Welcome to 1src, Roger.
I am using a LifeDrive with my Powerbook and can do a WiFi and Bluetooth sync via The Missing Sync 5.0.3.
It seems that you're following Palm's set of instructions. I did not install Palm Desktop at all. I just installed The Missing Sync and used the tutorial (under Help). Everything's working great.
I used to think that Palm Desktop is essential but The Missing Sync is all that you need.
Good luck and please post again if you encounter any problems.

Thanks for your reply Joel. I've tried using the tutorial in missing sync, but still no luck. The problem is that my TX doesn't even have the same options/menus(in hotsync) as those shown in the missing sync tutorial. There's a specialized procedure to be followed for TX's on the Missing Sync website, but my menus/options are even different from those!
It just doesn't make any sense. Do I have a different version of Hotsync or something? Mines version 5.4.8P
Any other ideas?
Thanks!
We have the same version of hotsync. What version is The Missing Sync?
I went to the Mark/Space site and found the TX instructions (http://www.markspace.com/support/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&root=119&id=2609) that you were referring to. They did say that their pictures are different from what you would be seeing in the TX and what should be seen in the TX screen.

Thanks for your help Joel. I think I've finally figured out what the problem is; when I turn off my firewall, wifi sync works. Is there anyway that I can keep my firewall on but still wifi sync? I tried opening ports 5678 and 5679, but still no luck (maybe I opened the ports wrong).
Thanks again!
Great to hear it's working!
Here's what I got at Mark/Space. If there's a problem with the procedure, maybe other users can offer another solution.
Missing Sync for Palm OS communicates on ports 5678 and 5679. If a user has a firewall, those ports should be open to allow successful sync and connectivity operations.
Some users cannot open those ports. Although this is not a Mark/Space or Missing Sync-specific issue, some users have found the following steps helpful for opening the ports.
1. Go to: /Applications/Utilities/ and launch the Terminal application
2. Type: sudo ipfw flush
3. When prompted, enter your administrator password.
4. Open the System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall and try to open ports 5678 and 5679.
If you are still unable to modify the Firewall settings, try deleting the Firewall preferences located in:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
Then, restart your Mac and try to modify the Firewall settings.
If you are still unable to modify your Firewall settings, please contact Apple for further support.
I've just upgraded to v5.1. The tutorials for the LifeDrive and TX are now updated. :)

LOL! Funny that they'd update it right after I have troubles!
Anyways, I tried the procedures that you found on the Missing Sync site, but still no luck. Things definitely work, but it just can't seem to get around my firewall. I've opened up the ports and still no luck. Does anyone have their own experiences/solution?
Thanks
Kitten

Can you use the internet on your TX without turning off the firewall?
