I'm still listening to this weeks podcast and I total disagree with the idea of no more lifedrive or handheld units. Here is what I need from palm.

1. Lifedrive style device, maybe a bigger harddrive but I use the SD slot more. How about flash instead of spin.
2. Cell Slot for swapable cell cards (no vendor lockin) or better yet an unlocked cell module but only for data, not voice.
3. VOIP client

If my only choice is a treo or locked in device from a cell carrier I'll bleed my lifedrive until it dies, preform heart bypass the first time it dies, become a lifedrive hack the second time it dies, and hopefully by the third time around palm would have come to their senses and produced another unit for those of us who don't want their cell phone embedded with their data.

My prediction palm becomes just another windows hardware VAR and a truely inspiring and wonderful product will go the way of FUD.

Signed,

Yeah, I was all over the web looking for a LD to buy for my new GPS I'm getting, until I heard about the lag issue & constant HDD usage in GPS mode... So here's my 2cents:
1. I agree - use a 1.8" HDD instead of the microdrive, but still slim the whole device down a tad. Mutliple card slots would be great as well - I have a Sony camera... Use Flash for the OS, say about 256 - 512MB...
2. I'd love to have this, but there's now way that somebody will make a datacard for the current Palm OS...
3. I'm testing EQO & MobiVOIP on my Treo as we speak...

If one is really looking for a LD, there are plenty, I'm getting rid of mines, since i dont use it for anything but video. If palm gets rid of it - and in palm's case, that means they just dont promote it , and dont refrence it anymore - i wont be too upset.

Biggest waste of half a grand i ever made.
