View Full Version : Getting PowerRun to support CF - please read

I am one of the beta testers for the CF driver.

Being able to move everything to CF from MS and using PowerRun would greatly improve the usefulness of the driver but it currently only supports the MS.

I got permission from the driver developers and emailed the author of PowerRun about the possibility of adding multicard support. Here is the response I just received:

"Thanks for the mail.

Yes, I can support multiple volume . I'm not supporting it because
there's very limited number of device which has multiple volume( HandEra or Dana).
I'll consider adding the feature."

Maybe a few more emails requesting the feature might help convince him it is worth his while? Anyway the email address is:

Emailed too ... I couldn't imagine using my Clie without PowerRUN but having it run from multiple volumes would make this great product even more perfect :) Here's hoping for PowerRUN to incorporate this additional functionality ... :)

I'd like to see a powerrun option incorporated into ZLauncher instead. ZL's FM already has multi-VFS support.

In any case, I have sent my request to PowerRun.

What's the difference between powerrun and zl's feature?

Powerrun also moves associated settings and databases with the app so it saves a lot more space with large databases. ZL's only moves the app.

I don't usualy participate in this type of thing, but as a registered user of PowerRun who would like this feature it was definatly worth my time to let him know I'd like this.

I just sent my email.

Me too!

I also requested the ZLauncher guys add more CF support e.g. on the 'move to card' popup. I suggested 'move to MS' and 'move to CF' or even 'move to MS1' and move to MS2' to make it more generic.

I also asked for an option to show the free memory on both slots.

They've obviously started improving support with the file manager in the latest release. It would be great if they can go the whole hog.

I sent him an email offering any support he needs to add this feature. I'm sure the more customers ask for it, the more willing he'll be to spend the time.

Thanks,
Amir

I was thinking this same thing. ZL would be perfect if it had powerrun like abilities built in!

You can move NS Basic application to memory card,
Mutliple memory card is partially supported. You can insert only 1 card when moving, You can insert multiple cards when executing application in memory card. "

Cool:) I don't understand what it means really, but it sounds like it is coming along, but not quite there yet.

I think it means that at the moment you can only move to a single card i.e you can't select which one. So if you've got the MS in it will move to MS and if you've just got CF in it will move to CF.

But I think he's saying once the apps have been moved you can insert both MS and CF and apps can run from both.

I can't try it yet because his link is wrong and the beta link still downloads v1.2.

Hang on, try this link instead:

Okay I think I was correct. I just moved to MS and then removed the MS and moved to CF. I reinserted both cards and both apps work fine.

Looks like the only work left to do is to allow you to select the card from within the app.
