Issue: My Palm TX just stopped working with any WiFi connections. When I try to connect to a network which was previously working, it reports that I am connected, but then when I check the status it shows disconnected. I have two network connections configured, one for my router (using WPA) and one for an ad-hoc connection to my laptop. In both cases, the connection fails I tried testing a new connection with no encryption and also reconfiguring and resaving the existing Network connections, but it still won't connect.

Diagnostics:
A ping from the laptop or router to the palm produces the following results:

Timed out.
Hardware error.
Hardware error.

I've seen timeouts before, but never a hardware error on a ping.

Recent Events:
The problem occurred yesterday after I had hotsync lock up on me twice. I had to kill the hotsync process on Windows XP and also had to warm reset the palm - I waited 5 minutes after hitting cancel, but nothing happened.

I have a backup program (Right Backup) that should have everything backed up from the Palm, so I can restore individual apps if I need to.

Question: Are there specific files that I can restore to get the WiFi working again or is there another way to restore the WiFi application, databases or configuration files? Or, if there is some additional troubleshooting that can be done I'm open to any suggestions!

Thanks!

Hello
The best you can do is:
-Make a full backup of you palm
- Hard reset
-Reinstall all except: UDMH, warpspeed, uncache, Netfront, MaxX
Then use your palm normaly, hotsync, etc. and try your wifi conection again.
If everything is all rigth, then try to install ono by one of the above programs and use you Palm until you get an error again to discover which one is the problem

Note that before you do anything else just try a regular reset on your palm as a warm reset disables wifi. Usually in this case the wifi icon in the status bar disappears.

I use everything you use except your backup app - I use Resco Backup - and more. I don't have any wifi problems on my TX. I have had wifi probs in the past and they have always been related to either a warm reset, or one of the wifi files not being restored correctly. In the latter case I did a hard reset and restored everything except my wifi files and that brought me right back up!

Thanks - It did require a hard reset to get the WiFi back. I tried uninstalling everything I could think of to no avail. Since I had to do a hard reset anyway, I also installed the WiFi security update, so I'll post anything useful related to that in the future.

I'm having the same problem. My TX wifi stopped working and I can't seem to find a way to fix it. I've tried reseting and reinstalling, but apparently, I haven't found the file that is corrupt. In my case I try to connect to WiFi and I get an error that says: 'Error: Incomplete setup. Please check your network settings.' When I click ok, the TX crashes and resets, making a clicking sound about 15 times. I've tried installing the enterprise WiFi security update to no avail. WiFi used to work, but not any more. Any suggestions as to finding the bad file? I've tried hard resetting and re-installing, but without success. If there are files that I should be careful not to restore during the backup, please list them for me. I've written Palm, but have yet to receive a reply from them.

Welcome to 1src, lensart!

Does Wifi work correctly after a Hard Reset, but before you HotSync? If so, you'll have to go through the tedious, but necessary one-by-one program reinstall from your /Backup folder to find the culprit..
