Zire 72 Fatal Reset on plugging in USB

I've had a few episodes where I plug in the miniUSB cable to Hotsync and the Zire 72 immediately locks up and issues a "fatal reset" message. I end up doing a hard reset and the problem goes away for a while. I assume this to be a software issue, I haven't added anything new lately. I've had the Zire for 6 months and the problem appeared over the last couple of weeks. Any suggestion on why the USB would cause a reset condition?

I know if you plug the cable in while real one player open with a machine which doesn't have the drivers for real one player you have to reset.

I had that problem with my T3 for a little while, and I discovered that it was I had Colorize set to 16-bit colour all the time, and when I set it back to 8-bit it was fine.
