I was trying to beam to an IR capable printer but got a message could not find a recieving handhelp computer.
I have beamed to this printer in the past with a Palm 505, any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Following is a response from Sony:
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. It is not possible to beam data from CLIE to a non Palm OS platform.

No third party apps can be used either? Did the Palm have a separate print driver? I remember doing it with my Handspring Prism to my HP Photosmart printer using a third party app, but can't remember the name.

I printer to an HP Laser - foreget the model number - from my Palm 505 without any special apps. I am rather disappointed I can not to the same with a $600, Sony.

With PrintBoy you can beam to any IR enabled printer. I am suprised that your 505 came with PrintBoy or other comporable applications. I know that IR compatiblity is not built in to the standard PalmOS on any device. If it did come with your 505 it is because Palm added that feature to it's ROM or provided the app as an add on. I currently am using PrintBoy and beam documents to a Cannon BJC-85, I have also beamed docs to an HP IR enabled printer. I have a list of drivers for PrintBoy that must exceed 20 possible printers that I can beam to. The bottom line though as unfortunate as it may be, is that a third party app is necessary on all PalmOS devices in order to print via IR enabled printers.

I am able to print via IR to a HP(forgot the model #) printer at work with no problems. This is a laser black and white printer. I mostly beam JPEG's taken by my NX70v.:D
