After switchin' in July 05 to LifeDrive and Oktober 05 to T|X, I'll be back.
Why switchin'back? What's wrong with LD & TX?

everything ;)
LD is too slow and the Digitizer from T|X has a malfunction.
The T|X is on the way: from Germany (Palm Support Center) to the Tschech Republik (Repair Center in Prague). From Palm Support I received a track number today.
Thanks for the reply, Fanny. Hear that, JAmerican (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108068)? ;)

and my UX has a WiFi malfunction. Does not mean all devices do. The TH and UX all have slow processors, thats a fact ;). Recently, I've used my PDA mostly as a PMP/MP3 Player and Internet. My T-Mobile phone no longer offers me DUN service so I've got no service to the internet whatsoever. So I need WiFi. I'm done buying UXs. I've bought three UXs to date and a UX50 motherboard. The only one that works (including motherboard) is the one in my working UX. Everything else is dead. So tell me, why should I buy another. If the TH had a faster processor, I'd get it. But it doesn't. If I could get a TH for the price I got a TX for ($206) with BT in it, I'd get it.
JAmerican
Speed means nothing if your digitizer doesn't work and the power goes to pot in a hurry. ;)
Actually I have no problem with my TH55 speed. Long battery life, stable system, WiFi, camera, movie, and MP3 are what I care most. TH55 has them all. I have Bluetooth in one of them that I plan to hook it up with Bluetooth GPS. Almost forgot to mention about the audio recorder bonus. :D

As I said, he said his digitizer don't work. Does not mean all them do not work. I've used the TX before and had little to no issue with it. Yes, I did have an issue with it because I rarely use a digitizer on my UX. You can't play SNES on the TH55 or UX. The screen on the TX is larger than the TH as well. I've used a TH and don't get me wrong, I like it a lot but economically, I'd rather get a newer device that cost less than an older one that costs more. I also like the fact that I can get a 2GB SD card for $50 compared to the MS cost. I'm done. I've already purchased it. When I get it, I'll let you guys know.
BTW, I find the audio recorder to be not really important without a camera. Yes the TH has a camera (and the Movie recording soft from the UX), so having a audio recorder makes sense.
In the end, its based on need. I will no longer need a keyboard device for college due to I will be getting a laptop. I need a larger screen, WiFi, BT, cheap media, gaming and media. The TH does not do SNES gaming due to slow processor so its out. Media can be done via TCPMP. With MaXX, you can have Netfront on your Palm. The new PDF solutions available works on your Palm. DocsToGo actually seeks documents faster on TX than it did on my UX. The $50 2GB SD card was a steal. I will never find a deal like that for the MS. Only in like 3 yrs. The stylus (is another major reason for switching). I got tired of the toothpick and the pen-like stylus on the TX is so much more comfortable. If you can find me a TH with BT and WiFi and processor 312Mhz, I'll get it. But you can't. Yes, the TX may have its quirks, just like the American TH does not have BT, but these quirks can be fixed. I will look into battery mods and other mods that can be done for the TX. Remember, I like to do stuff like that. I did it with the UX and now might be able to with the TX. Only time will tell. Eventually you will give up your TH. You won't be using it 10 years from now.

JA, it is clear that you get a damn good deal on TX. Economically, getting TX makes sense if it meets your needs. My point is everything looks rosy until things start to go south on you.
There are reasons why TH holding the prize up, while TX sliding down. I hope your TX is keeping up with your high power usage. I'm tired of Palm inferior quality in the past. I remember my Vx power button quit and I almot smashed it to the wall.

I remember my Vx power button quit and I almot smashed it to the wall. Then you got a cute puppy to help with your anger management! :)
I got two of them puppies. They play with each other all day and always happy to see me, so I would say yes, they would have kept me from smashing that Vx to the wall, had I not lost it first.
I lost the Vx on the airplane (left it on seat pocket). Good ridden, I would say. Tried M505 for 2 weeks and then N760C showed up with MP3 and headphone remote control. Exchanged the M505 with N760C, back in September 2001, and never looked back to Palm One product since. I haven't have any problem with all of my CLIEs. Am I lucky?
My 3 TH55s should last me long enough before I find a worthy replacement someday. Hmm, Dell's Axim X51v (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/pda?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs) with VGA display, wifi, Bluetooth, 624MHz, 256MB ROM, 64MB SDRAM, for $374 after 25% off, is not too bad of an upgrade. Ebay! Don't forget that there are several ways of purchasing on eBay--straight up auction and Buy It Now.
Typically, BIN isn't a good deal because people who list it as BIN Only know what they will go for and it's usually like retail price would be in a store.
But, often you will see an item listed that will start at $ .99 for the auction but will also have the BIN feature added to the listing hoping that someone will come along and just end the thing. Maybe they don't want the suspense or there could be numerous reasons. Sometimes it could be they aren't fully aware of what the item for sale COULD bring and they priced the BIN too low. . .as was the case with my recent example. The item was listed as an auction, but also had the BIN option at US $190. . .needless to say that I jumped on it right away! It would have definitely gone for much more than that on the auction side.
SO--the point here is that, yes, you can just get lucky on eBay from time to time. But it helps to know when people are listing their items, which depends on when they want them to close and at what time because unless there's a reserve price set on these combo auctions, then the BIN option goes away with the first bid at whatever the opening price was. Typical auctions will go either 3, 5, or 7 days and you want to end them when you think most people will have a chance to follow them to raise the price as much as possible. . .mostly Saturday or Sunday ending days, but there's others too. So what I do is check eBay for deals really late Sunday night or early Monday morning (because people listing a 7 day auction would have just put them up and odds are good that no one's seen or bid on them yet.) Also, look for auctions that end in the middle of the day when everyone's at school or work--mid morning or mid-afternoon.
I just sold my previous back-up PDA (tg50) on eBay. When I listed it, I started the auction price at $.99 to attract buyers early on and keep them interested, but I also put on a BIN at $125 because I felt it would probably hit it and I thought it was a fair price for the package I was offering. So bidders jumped all over the $.99 bid and it went from there. . .ended tonight at $162.50!! Not bad considering I had a total of $80 in it including shipping when I purchased it from eBay myself. :D

salesrep, I think people are wondering if that is 190GBP, not 190USD since you get it from eBay UK. 190 GBP or 331.66 USD makes more sense. What is the eBay item number?
I hope you get it as advertised. It sounds too good to be true, knowing how good TH55/E demand is.

Hello DanT,
It is a fact that most of the posters in any device forum are owners with issues. The TH55 is a great machine but it is not flawless, same thing with the Treo and any other device. By just showing threads with people complaining about it does not proof that a device is faulty but instead it just shows the people who have issues.

That is true. No PDA is perfect. Different strokes for different folks. We make mistakes. However, how often such complains are made is a good indication of how well the device is designed to cope with our various needs, curiosity, and shortcoming habits or physical attributes. Facts that you can't deny are the Treo's small buttons and screen size can be irritating to some people with weak eyes or big fingers. Poking the buttons with stylus is not an efficient way of using the keyboard. Just my 2 cents. :)

Though I do agree with the following statement from NarrowRoad:
"...As far as Palm sitting on its laurels, they've been doing that a looooooong time. It was Sony that forced them to make any kind of move forward IMO, and that was a few years ago. The only time Palm really innovated was in the very beginning when they stole the market away from the Zoomer and Newton. The real innovation in the Palm platform has always been mostly from the software developers; the natural advancement of technology has allowed Palm to add more memory, use color, etc. But they've never been drastically innovative. Just look at what Sony did with the platform. That should have been what Palm was doing too, but no. Maybe it was due to Sony having greater resources - to some extent, ok, but that doesn't excuse all of Palms inertia, and when they finally did 'innovate' look what they came up with: NVFS and the LifeDrive. Good concepts, but very poorly implemented. There's no excuse for that. They've sullied their own name and squandered the good will of the community with those half-assed efforts.
I love the PalmOS, despite Palms cobbled development efforts, and I just bought a TX, because it's the best POS handheld on the market right now, imo. But I know Palm could do better, if they wanted to. Maybe they just don't want to. Maybe they just want to make phones, with small screens.
I have a TX, I have an SJ30, I had a Neo; I like Palms. I also have an Axim X30, and I like it a lot. I would like to see Palm remain in the handheld market, and excell in it. But maybe that's not practical or possible, especially if they themselves don't value that market.
In the so-called 'war' between WM and POS if the Palm loses, the way things are going, Palm is going to be to blame for a large part of it..."

CO is a great concept, but Sony just didn't follow-through with it. It needs some of the basics that I have become dependent upon with DB5. Plus it's just too slow when you have a lot of entries and media content.

Usually when that sort of thing occurs, it's a registry key (malfunction of their uninstall process).
