View Full Version : skinUI 1.2 losing colour settings

I use Colorize to set colours. If skinUI is in RAM, whether a skin is loaded or not, and even with the colours checkbox unchecked with the default skin, the colour settings are lost on a soft reset. I get them back as soon as I run Colorize. Is this a glitch in skinUI or is there another setting I'm missing?

If you're running uncache make sure that colorize is in your uncache list. Otherwise someone more knowledgable than I will have to figure this one out - since I don't currently use colorize.

Just as soon as it displays RGB values :)

Colorize, running as a standalone app, loses it's colors on a reset. It also loses them when you run NetFront. Sony, in it's OS 5.2 release, imbedded Colorize at a lower level in the OS, so for us Sony users, you can go to the Prefs/General page and use "Colors," which is actually Colorize, and when the colors are invoked there, you will not lose them on resets or upon launching NetFront.
So that's the long answer to: No, your experience has nothing to do with SkinUI or PalmRevolt. ;)

Actually, on my T3, Colorize does not lose its colours on reset. It's only when I have skinUI in RAM that the colours are lost. And with PalmRevolt, the colours remain. And this is with the default skin
I suspect that it's not Colorize that loses colors but skinUI that is setting them. At least that's what appears to be happening.

That's an entirely different experience than with Sony PDAs then. Both Colorize and Khroma lost their settings on reset, until Sony imbedded Colorize.
For you T* users, it does appear to be SkinUI related then. You might see if the just released 1.2.1 makes any difference.

Uninstall Manager tells me that Colorize uses the system pref "psys 25". Looking at that in Palm Insider shows me the RGB values I've set. And indeed, if I go to Prefs and select a colour scheme, "psys 25" changes. So that's where the colours are stored. So it's not really Colorize that survives the reset but the colours in the Saved Preferences.
However, there must be another setting somewhere because in doing this test I set a colour theme from the Prefs panel other than the default. If I go into Colorize and then soft reset without skinUI in RAM, I get my Colorize settings. But if I have skinUI in RAM, I get the colour theme I selected in Prefs (as opposed to the base original colours).

If I followed you correctly, it sounds like Palm has also embedded Colorize in the OS. If the dropdown menu choices look exactly like Colorize's choices, then that is the case. If that is true, I would suggest ditching Colorize, as they are competing for the same resources.

There are a number of shared entries, but not all of Colorize's entries are in the Palm list and vice versa. As well, Colorize let's you specifiy colours for each object, like skinUI does, whereas the Palm pref panel does not. This allows much more customization. Especially if I want to match colours to a skin or DIA.
Hopefully Dmitry will add the RGB settings. Then, we can easily use skinUI unless we want the built-in skin.

I am having color issues too. I use Palm Revolt, but here is the strange part. I can select a color (using Khroma or Colorize) and it will stick until I switch to the phone app. I don't have a color picked with Profiles 101. If I chose the color scheme in the prefs panel, it loses it too. If I turn Palm Revolt to the "Palm OS Default" skin, my colors stay in place. Any insight would be AWESOME
