i had a MS pro DUO 1GB and had lots of problems, i was having some trouble with some bumpy audio recording and now that i have a replacement from my retailer i don't remeber where to format it first. on the Palm OS or with Windows XP
if i format it with palm os i can't use a card reader. windows Xp can recognize it and wants to format it. (with a FAT32 and only gives me 227Mb out of a 1Gb MSpro duo)
and the only posible way to use it is with Data Import.
i need to be able to be read with a card reader and be used on the palm as well keeping my 986Mb able for use.
any suggestions?

Get a Mac? :) sorry.
I'm not sure of your issue but I formatted my 1gig MS first in my Clie, when I finally got around to buying a MS adapter for my OS X laptop, just plopping the card in gives me a fully read/writeable big flash card.
Just put the thing on the Mac to check; it shows as a FAT16 formatted card with 949.7meg total capacity;the same total capacity that shows for the formatted card wen installed in the Clie.
I haven't tried it on my wife's XP laptop yet, but I will sometime soon if noone else chimes in.
Seems to me that formatting it on your PDA should be fine though.
