Hi guys,

I need to remove the BT drivers from my NX70 unit. They appear to be protected/locked and refuse to be deleted. Any recommendations?

I just read one of the other threads regarding locked files. Thanks to Larry's post I was able to get rid of them. Thanks Larry.

Cheers

Is it possible to remove the WLAN drivers from the clie?

Yes, only if you do a hard reset. Make a note, so that the next you crash, don't install the WL100 driver. It takes up about 125k with 4 files total.

So after a hard reset there will not be any trace of the wireless drivers being there? There will not be a connection in the network prefs named "WLAN"?

Right!

Sony says a hard reset is the only way to uninstall it. Most backup apps won't restore it either. I had tried my darndest the other to try and uninstall it without a hard reset. The Sony manual also states that you can't uninstall it.

I thought the manual ment that it is impossible to delete it after you have installed it, like it got put into flash ROM. That's all. Thank you again, Larry!

No, that's not true. Reset the unit in "No-Notify" mode - hold Up while resetting. Now you'll be able to delete it per usual.

It does NOT work for the one WLAN file, the Clie flatout refuses to let you do it. You may not be aware that this was a continuation of a another thread and it has already been suggested and tried, to no avail. Sony's own documentation says it cannot be uninstalled without a hard reset. I even tried it myself without success recently. I am very much aware of using the warm reset procedure. I could only delelte 3 of the 4 CFWL drivers.

In other locked files I agree, but this case is the exception.
