I want a simple launcher that will allow me to toggle between applications by pressing the hardware buttons. Essentially I want to toggle tasks and memos ala TiggleToggle (which doesn't work with OS 5). Any advice? Free would be nice.

Since I'm not sure I understand your question, I'll give you 2 answers.

1. If you're just looking for an app to launch apps using hardware buttons the freeware app ButtonsEx is what you want.

2. If you're looking for a launcher, a lot depends on what you want and what you need. I use LauncherX, a launcher with a small footprint which allows you to toggle between tabs and apps using the jog dial/dpad then select and launch an app using the center of the dpad. It's easy to configure and easy to use. The only downside, AFAIK, is that the original programmer died from injuries he sustained from a car accident, so the app hasn't been updated in a while. Also, although I use it extensively on my TX, it doesn't play as nicely with NVFS as Zlauncher does (when LauncherX was created NVFS didn't exist). I still prefer LX to ZL, but like I said it's a personal preference.

hope that helps.

No, im specifically looking for a button launcher. I use Megalauncher & ButtonEx already but want a good way to map multiple apps to each button. Go trying out 123-launch right now but want to know what all my options are before buying anything.

Keep us informed. I'd be interested in what you find. If you use UnCache, you'll need to include the new app in the list.

Basicly, he wants a launcher that will launch one app with a single button press, and another app with a second button press.

I seem to recall an old Palm app that let you press a hard button once, and then press any of the four buttons to choose which app to launch -- giving you a choice of 16 apps from the four buttons. Anyone remember what that one was called?

123-Launch is working nicely so far and is only $5. Of course if there is one for free that would be even better.

You just set the apps you want to launch for each button and then press the button and a menu of apps is displayed. Works very nicely! If it proves bug-free it will be worth the $5.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the free part... but I can help with the button/multiple apps part.

I use QLaunch and it's very stable on the TX. With QLaunch I have 4 different apps/command programed to each button (1 for Palm default + 3 more through QLaunch). You program the buttons so that the longer you hold the button - that determines which app will launch. You can tell how long you've held because you can program either a sound or the screen to flash (on my old T3 I could use the LED flash too)

The nice thing about QLaunch is that it gives me a few extra features like launching a mini popup window for Aeroplayer when it's playing in the background and I'm in another app (it allows me to stop, FF, Rew etc) there's also one for PocketTunes, I also get a different popup to change my auto-off without leaving the program I'm in (and it can increase up to 2hrs). I also use QLaunch to turn off and lock my TX (the default power button stinks). Plus a whole bunch more...

So all in all IMHO it's been worth the ~$15 that I paid for it. It's consistanly one of my most used apps.

Screen Button is nice you can set up to 20 or more applications with just a press of one button only..

You can't toggle between apps on a Palm, it's not a PPC only one running at a time. If you want to SWITCH apps with a hardware button you would probably like HI-LAUNCHER... google it.

You have to learn to understand the context in which something is said (no offense intended.). Read the rest of the thread (I would have hoped most people would do this before making a post, especially in a short thread). I wasn't asking to have two apps running at once but to have one button be able to launch multiple apps depending on how you press the hardware buttons.

context - google it.

"context - google it"

Harsh words, my friend but i get what you mean. 123 launcher is the best one i know of, that combined with Hi-Launcher would cover alot of apps.

Try "Switch5", i had it on my last clie, but i'm not sure how it is on the T|X,(Basically backup first!) i believe it allows each button to launch 5 apps, so 20 in total. I think its a 1 press for a 2 presses for b etc. sort of deal instead of menu like hi-launcher.

I think my set up is similar to what you are looking for as far as I can tell. I have a number of apps set to the hardbuttons. The best app that I have found is Button Lancher (http://www.palmcommander.com/download2.html). It used to be shareware but has become freeware in the last few months. It allows you to set a number of apps (up to 9 per button) depending on how many times you hit the hardware button.

For my TX is utilize buttons EX to change the first button to ZL and the left 5-way nav to calculator. I use Button Lancher for third button (first tap: contacs, second tap: tasks) and the fourth hardware button (first tap: diddlebug second tap: memos).

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Whow. Really like 123 Launch!

You can configure any button and set the first spot to "none", so that it acts as the Palm settings have it. You can also assign up to five other apps to launch from each hardware button, even apply other functions such as turn off, lock, etc.

Nice program for only 5 bucks! I'll probably register it, if it continues to prove bug free.

Thanks for letting us know about it!~ Great find!
