Hi

I just bought an Abacus Wrist PDA, and I also have a Sony Clie NX80. I currently sync the NX80 with Outlook on my PC. I also want to be able to sync the Abacus on the same PC. Is this possible? Is it just a matter of making sure both devices have different user names? I suspect because Sony uses it's own version of the hotsync manager there may be issues here!

what happens when you try to install the software that came with the wrist pda?

I haven't done that yet. I was worried about buggering up my existing hotsync capabilities with the NX80. I might try it on the weekend when I have more time.

Well, through trial and error got it working. First thing, don't install Chapura Pocket Mirror or the Palm Desktop that comes on the CD! I did that first and it stopped me being able to sync the NX80. I did a system recovery on my PC to put things back again!

What I did was add the user name to the WristPDA, making sure it was different to the one on the NX80. I also did a MS-Backup on the NX80 as a precaution.

Then, making sure the NX80 was not in it's cradle (Since I can have both connect to the same PC), I started a hotsync from the Abacus.

Windows then tells me there is new hardware and it needs to install software. I put the CD that came with the Abacus and let Windows find the drivers and install it. The CD had drivers for Windows ME and XP, so since I have XP, I selected that one.

Once installed, the hotsync started and it synced my Outlook contacts, etc.

So there you go!

You can share the same hotsync name between NX80V and wrist PDA. This enables you to share the same data (addressbook, schedules, memos, etc) among as many machines as you want. (To avoid mix-up of backup files, set the backup conduit OFF.)
