I called customer service yesterday and they told me that they will ship a box by fedex and then I'll have to mail it back with my clie in it.

Did anyone use this service?

If so can you tell me how long it takes to ship repair and ship it back to me?

My clie has scratches all over the place. The screen is in worst condition (Big long scratches, doesn't display color, and the part that connects the hinge and screen is soooo loose) and the hinge is really loose. Do you guys think Sony will replace it for a new one? (I still have 1year warranty of course)

When I broke my Bose TriPort headphones I visited the store I boutght and they changed for a new one in less than one minute :)

Under the warranty, Sony will repair your screen in terms of restoring the color capability on your display (afterall it should be in color), and will also fix the loose hinge problem. They will also automatically put a spacer behind your MS slot as this is a common problem with many NR models, so they will fix this without you asking them. However, scratches on the Clie are NOT under warranty, and they will not replace you with a new glass digitizer. There is a separate cost to replace the digitizer unless you've bought a separate warranty for it.

For your information, they will never replace your NR70V unless there has been serious malfunctions because of poor product quality and that they cannot readily fix the problems. Even so, since you have used your Clie for so long, they will definitely not consider you to be in this category.

Delivery times will vary depending on where you live. It is best to call Sony tech support for an estimate.

I sent out my nr70v to have the memory slot fixed, it took a total of 4 days from the day fedex picked it up and returned to me.

I've sent a Clie back ( a total of 3 models mind you) a total of 4 times, ranging from 40 hours to 3 weeks. It really depends on how busy they are, difficulty of the operation really doens't matter because if they have any issues they will just replace anything that gives them a hassle. My T 415 got completely gutted and it only took about a week, but to confirm it was defective and send out a new NR-70 took just over 3 weeks. It is really a crap shoot.
