HELP
What is Bluetooth and what can I do with it? I just got the TG 50 and I'm wondering if I can access my internet through the Bluetooth. Or will I have to have a wireless account? Any info would be much appreciated.

u need a bluetooth cellphone and GPRS account to get ur TG online. Or a bluetooth wireless modem also do the same thing. Depending on ur situation to choose between the two.....

Does that mean I can't go online through a simple cradle/cable solution that came with Sony? The only way is for a bluetooth enabled phone or a bluetooth adapter?

I guess u can buy a bluetooth dongle and you can leave your clie on the cradle! :p Why would you want to surf the net with your cradle carrying around with you?

Alternatively, you can use your cellphone and your clie to connect to the internet via IR if you choose not to use bluetooth.

i believe he/she wants to play with the lastest technology. and since our clie has built-in bluetooth let it be useful ~

personaly, i wont use pda to surf the net while i can use my pc. I would only wish i could let clie gets online when i am in school library or lecture rooms where a WLAN network is avialibe. however, it's not via bluetooth....i hope the MS wifi WLAN card will be released sooner or later~~

Question, does the bluetooth phone need to have a modem built in? I read the stuff in the manual and it looked simple (which I doubt). The hard part probably is in choosing the phone... Anybody know if the Sony Ericsson T68 works well?

AFAIK the T68i works well. I am using a Siemens S55 and it works like a charm too

i wish i could let clie gets online too....but GPRS are too $$ in canada. With regular services bundle + GPRS estimate around $100CND/ month which is not worth for a low useage user like me.....

otherwise, i will consider to get a new T610 when launched by SonyEricsson . Or a MS wifi WLAN for free wireless access in school.

Just an FYI, Verizon doesn't offer any phones with Bluetooth.
I've been with Verizon for years and had constant frustrations so this was the clinching thing that will cause me to switch services.

Here's my objective, I would like to be able to travel around
Europe and be able to email from from Clie through either a modem or phone. I think recently we have phones compatible with Europe but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Does anyone have a good setup for having me achieve my goals? Thanks!

Just a chick geek...

Hi everyone...I am new to these forums. I searched around and didn't find an answer to my question, so if one exists, please forgive my posting another similar post.

I just purchased a Nokia 3650 and Clie TG-50. I would like to use the bluetooth on my 3650 to connect to the internet and browse with Netfront on my clie. Does anyone know how to get it to work. I am subscribed to GPRS (10mb per month) and used the mobile connection wizard for the TG-50, however, it always start to sign me in then kicks me off.

I am using the Generic GSM phone driver....

Please, any help would be appreciated....And please be specific, as I am not very accustomed to setting up network connections.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, do you use T-Mobile? I have been eyeing that $300 phone but I am still recovering from my TG50 purchase.

Yeah, I am. I like the phone, however, I am just kind of debating whether or not I need all the features it offers. I would have solely kept it, and not have gotten the palm if there were any decent amount of apps online for medicine. However, there aren't. So, I have to stick with the clie.

I am seriously considering going back to my 6310i. They are equally good phones, however, the 6310i lacks the camera feature and color screen....but has much better battery life, is lighter, and smaller. I really don't use the camera feature that much except for candid shots, and I have a color screen (much nicer one) on my clie....So, if I could only get the bluetooth connection to work between the two...... :)

I can't find the 6310i on the T-mobile site, I really want to upgrade my Samsung N105 to something small and inexpensive with bluetooth. Nothing else needed. and if I can stay with T-mobile, so much the better... when will they EVER get a 3G network?

The 6310i isn't officially offered by T-Mobile. I got mine off of ebay. I picked one up for around $200...Great performing phone....small, lightweight, high-resolution blue screen, bluetooth, GPRS, HSCSD, infrared, text messaging, email, and java....

I am selling my 3650 and going back to the 6310i...I really just can't justify keeping the 3650 in light of having all the features I need on the tg-50.....

So....if you didn't want to buy off ebay....check out this website....

I have purchased several phones off of Adam Roth (owner of gsmphonesource.com) and have never been disappointed. Great service, great guy....

Go to CompUsa and purchase the bluetooth access point for $149.00. You can surf the net in the bathtub or while on the the crapper and even in the laundry room if it's not that far away. Ask me how I know.. been there.. still doing that.. good luck..All wireless and no cradle to carry around..

Why not get one of those Bluetooth USB Dongles for $39.99? But that does not solve my problem of being away from home and checking my hotmail... can the Clie browser handle hotmail? Let me know next time you are on the toilet point your browser towards hotmail.com ;)

This has probably been answered in the wireless forum, but if I finally get a bluetooth phone, and I get the Data package of say T-Mobile, do I need to get a dial up account somewhere too? or can I use T-mobile for my internet access?

Is anyone else having trouble with ClieSource forgetting them after a few minutes, even in the same session?

Yes, done that with my (non-Clie) PDA and my laptop. Don't even need Bluetooth. Just need a decent phone with IrDA OR Bluetooth and built-in data capability, and then to tell your cellphone company (mine there is Orange) to enable data.

But it's pricey, and wandering Europe by cell in general is expensive. For example, using my U.K. phone in Switzerland costs me several pounds a minute!
