Zire 31 has "pinstripes" across screen

I was in the middle of using my Zire 31 the other day, and all of a sudden, vertical lines appear all the way across the screen -- I think I was just using the Memos appliaction. I have not recently installed any new applications, I have not tweaked any hardware, I haven't adjusted the CPU clock...I haven't done anything to it. I'm not rough with it (in fact, I'm especially careful).

I am not at home right now, so I can't run a hard reset (I do have an SD card with me though...would it work to back up the DB files using FileZ and restore them after the hard reset?).

Short of a hard reset (which I'm not sure will even work), is there a known hardware issue? Maybe a loose digitizer/screen/backlight connector? My warranty has expired for this unit, so I am willing to take it apart (I've taken it apart once before).

Can anyone make some suggestions? Any recommendations of what to look for if/when I take it apart?

ive had this b4 when i had a z31. All i did was a hard reset but first i backed up my stuff. If that doesn't work just keep trying. If it doesn't work at all, then you will need to play with the color adjustments

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have performed several hard resets already, none of which have fixed the problem. The colour/contrast adjustments don't make any difference at all.

Unless you have another idea, I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and see if something is loose.

OK, so I've taken it apart and it is now in pieces on my desk. I've already tried reseating the LCD and digitizer cables, which made no difference. All of the wires are connected and everything is still functional, but the screen has still got the lines on it :(

Any other ideas?
