Mobile Stream announces the release of the "USB Modem for Treo" application. It allows Treo 650 smartphones to be used as a USB GPRS modem for a desktop computer, a feature that is present in basically every smartphone on the market, but not on Treo 650. I'm still looking for a program that will let me dial and use the Treo 650 as a normal modem. Here in México GPRS prices are still above the sky.

You can use Pdanet fom www.junefabrics.com ... it converts your treo into a modem...

Already tried it. It also expects you to use the data service from your carrier. What I'd like to see is a program that dials a normal telephone number (as a computer modem) and then transfers the data to the PC.

Well, we did not try this scenario yet, but dialing to a usual modem pool using Treo with USB Modem should work, assuming the "AT+CGDCONT..." string is not present in the modem properties and the corresponding phone number is set in the connection properties.

We expect to have this case verified and documented in the 1.1 release.

Don't you hate those small things that companies all leave out, even though they can be done (sometimes easily) ;)
