I HATE THIS THING!!!! I have had more problems with this unit than anyother PDA I have owned. I have had to do so many hard resets because of different Applications causing the Hold Button to stop working. It is huge. Sometimes it doesn't work for no reason. It get's scratched to easily, it has no Bluetooth or camera, or voice recorder... :(

Sorry about that man. Except for not turning on, which I fixed and the CF card not being recognized, which I might have figured out, its been great. I've been using my backup NX73 and I really miss CO and ML. Oh, watching movies on the UX is a far, far cry from the stereo speakers and screen of the VZ. Sorry to hear yours has been faulty.

I still have my UX, but I screwed that up (my fault). Chris Short did some work and got it to turn on, but no MS, needs a new battery, no speaker...

I was using a Sony CLIE PEGA NZ-90 before. Things i miss on it that the
VZ90 doesn't have:

- Voice Recorder
- 2MPix Camera
- Hardware Keyboard
- 200Mhz Cpu (& Overclock for almost full TCPMP divx playback)
- Bluetooth
- "James Bond" style tech gadget apperance

Things i don't miss:

- Non-Palm OS 5.2 Audio support
- Low Battery life
- TFT Screen and the white screen border
- Flimsy Flip/Pivot Screen
- Size and weight
- Limited dynamic and internal memory size.
- Constant Palm OS 5.0 crashes and resets
- Restricted Compact Flash Slot support
- No internal Wireless support

I only go back to using the NZ90 now and then to test the quality of the 2mpix camera and play some divx files that play to slow on the VZ90 without re-encoding. The main pull i find of the VZ90 is the OLED screen.

If the VZ-90 is giving you trouble have a look at what programs you are installing, hacks etc. I have my fair share of crashes but nothing compared to when i had the NZ-90 which almost forced me to switch to Pocket PC.

If you want a replacement maybe a treo650 phone might do the job.

NZ90 had bluetooth? What do you mean no Internal Wireless? :p

It has bluetooth. I used it to connect to my pc to share internet connection. It can be used to connect to limited number of GSM phones for internet access well. It does have wireless support but you need to buy a sony PEGA-WL100/WL110 compact flash card. This makes the NZ-90 even less portable and drains extra battery.

I would give your VZ90 another try, do a fresh reset wiping everything from the internal memory and install each of the applications you want one by one.

Oh one thing i forgot to mention that i missed on the NZ90 was the Sony Clie Launcher. The default VZ90 launcher is kinda bland but i replaced it with Yshow to give it a better look and interface. I wounder if anybody has tried to trip the NZ90 launcher and tried to get it to work in landscape mode.

Oh yeah, another thing. My VZ90 has no Internal Media. I screwed it up somehow... :mad:
I use iSpin... I have no icons showing, just 4 super tiny ones... ;)

No Internal Media? Thats is Strange. Your sure you did a hard reset and got the confirmation message in Japanese asking if you wanted to Reset all data?
Can you see the Internal Media or at least format it in Mcfile 2.2Beta1 (Card4) or filez?

I was moving some files from the Internal Media, and a reset message came up. I did a reset, and it is gone... :(
I can't see it in FileZ, McFile, Clie Files, TCPMP, Media Launcher, Data Import... :(

I'm sorry to hear that. You're one of the people who was so jazzed about it you got the rest of us to take a look. Admittedly we're Clie users and it didn't take much. I haven't had a chance to really do that much with mine. I've been going one step at a time, but I did move enough apps to put away my UX50. Today with Ziggy's help, I was able to get Text Plus to work with Docs To Go. I miss my bluetooth, but once I get my Wi-Fi to work I'll be in 7th heaven. Currently, I'm over the moon.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your vz90. What about the warranty? Can you send it back to Sony? No luck getting back to the factory defaults? You have really been a big supporter and a lot of help with the vz90.

Mine has been working out fine. Although I admit I have only a few programs installed and I have yet to hotsync.

Sorry to hear about all of your dramas Dragonsgames. My VZ-90 has been fault-less since day-one. Couldn't be happier. One point I'd like to make is that I think a lot of you blokes get too fancy with the software over-writes you apply in your quest for full English support. I have experimented with Hope's pack and other over-writes but I always go back to CliePet's original pack for basic English suppport. Consistent, settled, proven etc.

I don't think it was my pack? My CF slot is not recognizing any cards and it started happening after I took out the battery and the device was in factory fresh state. For some reason, my device was not turning on. It was completely random with basic stable apps, nothing experimental or anything. Taking out and putting back in the battery fixed that, twice. But, now the CF card isn't working properly. It shows a question mark. But, 2 times it recognized the CF card so I know it can be fixed. Somebody help. Once I get the CF card to work I am pondering selling it. Though, I am quasi collecting Clie's as it were so if I can get it to work, I might just keep it. I'll be getting a NX80 very soon and am getting a clie every 2-3 months or so. I'm only using the UX50 with NX73 now though. The NX73 is no VZ but I can't fully trust the VZ for my info so it kind of sucks.

That true. It's working out fine for me. Although I didn't install everything. But the pack has worked well. I haven't used the CF slot yet nor have I hotsynced.

When I purchased the vz90 I wanted it mainly as a multimedia device and I have used it for that purpose. I want to install Avantgo and iSilo as I do a lot of off-line reading as well as watch movies on it. I think judging by comments from other vz90 owners, I'm just going to be careful and do backup. I still have my warranty, but I would need to send it back to my friend in Japan.

Has anyone had any trouble installing Avantgo or iSilo?

I think I won't get one either and won't get another Palm for that matter due to they all do not fit my needs. May stay away from PDAs and wait for the Vista tablets. LOL.

That iPod AV or video or whatever should be interesting. It will have to have some sort of touch screen and I think it will have some decent PDA features. 60gb+ HD, large hi-res screen, Apple, oh yeah, I'll be getting one. I have a feeling they'll be releasing it for their 20yr anniversary. Not sure if I would sell my VZ and get it or keep the VZ as part of the collection :confused: What do you guys think. If I can just get the CF card to properly work, its been on and off, I still love the VZ. It's to bad Dragons got a faulty one and the general batch of VZ's is buggier than most Clie's. Still glad for those who have solid ones working and I'm still optimistic to get mine in tip top shape. :D

I have the iPod video and it doesn't compare the VZ90. Hope you and DG are very good at tech stuff. Did you try to take yours back to factory settings and only add the Clie Pets English translation? Try that and see if your CF slot continues to works. Maybe in trying to translate so many things to English we inadvertently messed up some other stuff. I had a problem with the music part of my Media Launcher until I added the update. While others didn't have that problem, but they probably knew what they wre doing when the added the updates.

lol, its weird though, DG and hope are the only ones that complain about their Vz90's. i mean wouldnt early adopters even experience more bugs?????
