Database programs

I need a cheap database program for my Palm TX. I don't need relational capabilities, but it needs to be able to import about 6000 records and 8 fields from a FileMakerPro 5.5 database. I don't necessarily need to sync the database once it's on the Palm, but that would save me having to reinstall it once in awhile to keep it updated. Two of my friends use HanDBase, but that's $100, and I volunteer for the group I need the database for, so that's way too much money. Know of anything in the $20 range that will work for me?

Check the other threads on this topic -- there are free database programs for PalmOS that share a format with a DB app written in Java -- it runs on any OS that can run Java. There is currently an active thread discussing this exact topic -- I think the title has something to do with OS X.

DB is freeware, open-source to be exact. For what you need, it may be the best bet. You can find it here:

HanDBase can be had for about $25 for just the Palm version, although MobiSystems Database ($30) is my preference. SmartListToGo is a good program ($50).

A good database program is the best software that one can invest in for a Palm.

Thanks. I downloaded Pilot db, and a free db off the PalmGear website, and a trial of HanDBase. At the moment I don't know how to use any of them. I'll try one at a time. If it works, I'll keep it, if it's too hard to use the way I want it to, I'll move on to the next. Where do I go to get the $25 HanDBase?
