Just finished hookin up my WL100 with my Airport Base station to connect wirelessly to my NX70. Pretty sweet. If any Mac users need help in setup please reply. It was pretty painless once I found the right directions from this board.

my airport extreme network works fine mac to mac one base station, two Pbs and an Imac, I think I'm ready to go with the clie, when i try to connect via the clie it says "connecting" then either times out or gives a failure to connect message. On the clie i have the SSD set to any, wep to 40/64bit:5 characters, connect mode to adhoc on chanel 10. Airport version 5.0.2 on the base station broadcasting on channel 10.....what have i set up incorrectly and where? I am loathed to change the Airport base station settings as there are three machines who work just fine with it! Any help much appreciated.

dominicpeissel,
I recall seeing something in these threads specifically for the Airport Extreme settings as opposed to the standard Airport Base Station.

We got the AirPort to work fine with my wife's NX70. Now I'm jealous and I'm trying to figure out how to connect my SJ33 through the USB cable to my PowerBook.
Not that I need to, I just want to see if it can be done.

I've had my NX70v working with Graphite and snow base stations without issue. This morning I set up an Extreme version (modem) and had little success. Forcing the sation into .11b mode only (no g) will allow the "Wi-Fi" SONY card to work.

how do you force it into .11b mode?
I have no experience with other basestations...but are having a tough time with the AirXtreme station i bought over the weekend with the clie...
hmmm...absolutely no setup problems with my TiG4-800DVi
What is Adhoc/Infrastructure settings? What is WEP?
There shouldnt be any passwords or security issues cuz i havent figured out how to impliment them...

Ack! Somebody help me - I'm so close I can taste it!
I have an Airport Extreme BS, WL100 card and a new NX60. I've set the BS to 11b only, and I used the notes from:
http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6721&highlight=Airport+base+station
to set up my Clie. All pretty straight forward.
Then when I go to connect, I get the following sequence of messages:
Initializing device...
Connecting wireless...
Connecting network...
Retrying..
And then it just times out, saying it is "retrying".
Anybody had this before, and remember what they did to fix it??
Thanks,
LL

but when i go to netfront and open a page...it never shows up, and eventually times out.
(having the setting set to "Any" in the prefs)

Got all the info except I'm totally confused about the WEP HEX password.
Help? What should I use? Which setting is right? 10,13......

In your Mac, open the Airport Admin Utility, double click on your base station to get to the configuration panel.
Depending on your version of the software, you can then either select from the top menu Base Station -> Equivalent Network Password or you will see something that says Wireless Hex Equivalent Password on the main panel (or both). Count the number of numbers/characters in that password. It will be 10 or 13 or 26. This is what you enter in the Clie.
At least that's what I did.
But, I still can't seem to connect. I tried disabling WEP altogether, but as soon as I did that I couldn't get my powerbook to see the base station at all and I had to hard reset the base station with a paper clip. Harumph.
Does anyone out there have their NX60/70 and WL100 working with the new Base Station Extreme? Can you share your settings (both for the base station and for the Clie) with us?
FYI, my base station is plugged into a cable modem and is set for DHCP. I tried entering the IP address of the BS in the Clie (under Advanced Setup) but even if that worked it would be pretty hack-ish because those change every four hours or something.
So close, so close...

Same issues as fireants22. Weird thing is that I have no trouble at Starbucks with tMobile and there was a time where it worked with the basestation but now it only connects and times out. BaseStation is configured for MAC addresses only no WEP and in the log in the Pref panel for Networks I get a IP 10.0.1.3 on a router of 10.0.1.1. So I am getting connected but data freezes. Any thoughts, thanks

I have pretty much given up on this....2 months is too long to be fiddling with the clie WLAN card. To think i got my powerbook to connect within 2 minutes was just mind boggling.
BTW...hoping that the new airportXteme firmware, and clie netfront upgrade, and WLAN software would fix things.....no dice.
I guess i didnt have my fingers crossed hard enough.

I've basically given up, so I'll be thrilled if you can tell me how to hook up. We have three Macs (G4, white iBook and 17" flat panel iMac) on a NOT extreme AirPort. Our cable modem provider is about to be ComCast... changing over on 30 June. Look forward to your instructions.
