View Full Version : Matrix Reloaded FINAL trailer

Guys,
I can't, for the life of me, convert the Final Matrix Reloaded trailer into a playable Movieplayer format.
Here's the link:
http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rl_cmp/reloaded_final_640.html
Here are my problems:
1.) Image Converter converts it into a format without sound, and freezes my NX-70.
-I've deleted all MAI files in the /palm/programs/movieplayer
2.) I've used EO video to convert it into an MPEG, then convert it with Image Converter, but it compresses the audio, making it not in sync with the video.
Any ideas, or can someone convert it, so I won't go nuts trying to fix it?
Perhaps someone can convert it, and then put it up into a FTP or something...
Thanks!!!

I can email it to you. It has to be recompressed with uncompressed sound. I did so with premiere and a high end MOV codec and it looks JUST like the original. It is 9 megs so make sure your email client can handle that large a file. I think someone on here has the file for DL already...

And those of you with NRs instead of NXs you can go to the other thread in the video board.

I've downloaded the trailer and fired up Kinoma Producer to convert the file to Kinoma format. Looks very good on my T665!

I just added this trailer to my site for both NR and NX owners!

Yeah, ashVID, I used cleaner 6 with a "copy video, process audio" setting to turn the audio track to 16/44.1 raw...
MQVs are soooo much better than Kinoma's Cinepak files... I wish someone would make an Image Converter clone for the Mac already -- I've tried fooling around with MPEG-4 export settings in QuickTime 6 but none of the results have played on the Clie yet.

ashVID, could you email the trailer to me? I downloaded the NR version but I have a T665C (...) my email address is jcgarciat@integra.com.sv, don't worry about the size... thnx

I tried downloading from the site listed earlier, but it was a pdb file that had to be opened in Kinoma. I prefer a MQV file for Movie Player, so I made my own and it looks great and it's only 9.6 MB =D
I don't have anywhere I can put it, but I can tell you how I did it.
1.) Download RAD video tools. I don't remember where I downloaded it from but you can get it at http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm (Don't worry, it's free).
2.) Open the original MOV trailer and click "Convert a file" in the lower part of the window.
3.) On the next window that appears don't change any settings. ("Convert video" at the top should be checked and "Convert audio" at the bottom should be checked). Hit "Convert" button on the right.
4.) When it tries to convert a window will appear asking what kind of compression you want to use. I chose "Cinepak Codec by Radius" If you don't have this listed, then you're on your own on finding it and installing it. I honestly don't know what codec I installed to get it there (if I installed anything to get it).
This will make a large AVI file (mine was around 70MB). Run that baby thru image converter and you'll have a 9.6 MB MQV file that'll look better than the Kinoma version (and it'll have sound too :D )

Good news! You can find the 9.2 meg MQV trailer for download at files.erevo.com/MatrixReloadedTrailer.zip (http://files.erevo.com/MatrixReloadedTrailer.zip) for at least a week. This zip is 8.5 megs.
Big thanks to AshVID. Enjoy :D

Right click, save as... no prob! If the file looks stuttery on your Clie, you might want to clear up some room on your MS. One person I sent it to said it was very jerky so I have them play it on their computer, they said it looked fine on the computer. Turned out his MS was full to the max and was having trouble keeping up with the file...

Great tip about the MS! I don't yet have my PDA, but it is on the way....should be here by the mid of the week. I'll sure remember all the great tips I found on this forum. Too bad I can't yet see the trailer playing on the NZ :(
I am curious about something, since I can't yet try it... I saw a post where one of the members created a stand for his NX to watch movies handsfree. On the picture, I saw that the movie was playing in landscape mode, taking up almost the full 480x320 resolution (minus the controls on the right side). Would this trailer have to be recreated to take full advantage of the larger, landscape resolution? And what program allows for landscape viewing?
erevo, the built-in Clie Movie Player allows you to rotate the video to landscape view. I can't seem to find the setting for full fullscreen (no controls).
dark79, thanks for the tips! I successfully converted the Matrix:Revolution trailer. The .mov was 99MB and the resulting converted .avi was 407MB(!). Image Converter slimmed the .avi down to a 9.5MB .mqv. Total conversion time: 2 hours. (Mileage per computer may vary.)

That's great news! Thanks. I am looking forward to play around and explore the multimedia potentials of the NZ.

No problem, I'm always trying to find ways to covert video files into much smaller, more portable counterparts :D

Grabbing the zip file right now. After I verify it works on my TG50, I'll put it up on kazaa.

YIKES!! What settings did you use? I took the original hi-rez trailer, kept all the settings for size, bitrate, frame rate, etc. and changed the audio to uncompressed 44.1mhz 16bit stereo and it took about 2 minutes to make a new MOV!!! Image converter took 5 or so to make the MQV and I ended up at about 9.5 megs as well...

I get the "can't convert audio" error to.
Also, where is a good site to download trailors? Apple for instance always loads the trailor in the browser and doesn't seem to give you an option to download.

I can't seem to play converted .mov files on my NX.
After I convert them using the Image Converter and attempt to play them using MoviePlay only the first frame of the movie is shown and I have to perform a soft reset.
Help anyone?

Hi
Can anybody tell me where to get the Movie Player you are talking about. I am using a SJ33.
Will it run on Sj33 at the first place?

Most of the MOV files use a type of audio compression that the Clie will not decode. You need to re-encode the file with uncompressed audio. I use Premiere, you can use QT Pro as well...

My guess is that you don't have the proper codecs necessary to make the conversion.
Maybe it matters what version of Quicktime you're using? Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime. I'm using 6.0 Pro. I'm sure the free version would work as well. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to do.

Can I ask how do you play that matrix trailer? it seem to have an extention MQV in the end, it's not something I've heard of.
And which folder do you put the movie into the MS ? for it to be play in the clie's default movie player?

MQV is the standard extension for movie files to be played in the NX's Movie Player.
Using MS Import, copy the file to the directory
\MQ_ROOT\100MQV01
on your Clie.

I've made it now, 12mb, 24fps, at 720kps (yep, that's right, or was it 700kbs, it's 700's anyway, the highest one). It plays fine in my kinoma player in my T-675. With sound and everything.

Original file was 400kps, going higher does not improve quality...

well, I've tried both, and the 720kbs does look sharper. It's only 2.5mb more, I guess if space is an issue, I'll use 499k, but if not 720k always look really good.

Can you post the kinoma file somewhere? I just got myself a SJ-33 and would like to test it ;)
YOu could also send it to mosthaf@novalis-media.de and I could up it and post a link here.
Thanks,

If I use a TG50, create the dir structure for the MQV, can I still view the trailer?? I have the MQV trailer now, but, argh, it wont run on my TG50 as it is.

Just recently I found that Movie Player is very picky. Make sure that the filename is something like MOV00051.MQV, everything in caps. If you change it Movie Player won't recognize it.

If you guys like trailer, here you go. You can get most update movie's trailer at http://film.onet.pl
I got x-men2, matrix reload, Terminator 3, etc.
The way I convert it is using the Clie image converter and choose high resolution.

so, If I don't wanna use kinoma, but imageconvertor, I need to decode and encode with uncompressed audio first?
I still have Premiere 5.1, will that do ?
