View Full Version : MegaLauncher 4.3 doesn't like WorldMate 9.1 Currency Update?
I updated MegaLauncher (ML) 3.2.2 to 4.3 and now I'm start having problem with WorldMate (WM) Currencies. The problem starts with howling noise of the Clie at the end of HotSync. This happens when new weather channel and currency data are updated. If I HotSync it again in a few minutes after the first HotSync, the howling would not happen on the second HotSync and it ends normally.
Upon checking the WorldMate, weather update works just fine. However, the currency update will crash the system where Crash Hack will automatically soft reset the OS. Afterwards, tapping $ tab will launch the Currencies normally. This problem did not start after I upgraded ML3.2.2 to 4.3.
I have WM 9.1 in FlashROM. For curiousity, I reinstalled another WM9.1 in RAM. Now the problem is slightly different. Whenever I open the Currencies for the fist time, I will get a white screen instead of system crash. Then again, a soft reset seems to take care the problem. Anyone else is having the same problem?

A number of us are having problems with the currencies in Worldmate 9.1. I am not using Megalauncher, but, like you, I am getting a white screen which necessitates a soft reset.
I have contacted Mobimate (as have others). It wouldn't hurt for them to hear from you too!

Thanks for the comment. I sent nir@mobimate.com a note about the problem. Hmm, so the problem may not be due to a conflict with ML4.3. It seems like the problem could solely be due to the currency update file that we get after HotSyncing for the first time each day is corrupted.

The problem is occurring with ZLauncher as well!

DanT,
The currency update problem has been blamed on ZLauncher too, but I'm pretty certain the problem is with Worldmate. I did a hard reset on my NR, renamed the backup folder on my PC(so nothing would be restored on hotsync). then reinstalled WM and the currency update still caused a crash. That was with nothing on my Clie except what came originally installed and WM. I therefore believe both ML and ZL are innocent of the charges leveled.:) What is really weird, it the currency update still works on my N610. with both ZLauncher and ML installed on it.

Maybe it isn't so weird, after all, I just noticed I still have V9 on my N610 and I have V9.1 on my NR.

Follow-up. I installed v9 on my NR and I no longer get the crash when updating currencies. I do however get the extended "clean up please wait" during hotsync.
Sounds like I was barking the wrong tree. Sorry MegaSoft2000!
Hope we'll hear the fix soon from MobiMate. I'm getting tired of turning on the WAClock everynight to be sure it will wake me up in the morning. Whenever I soft reset the Clie, the alarm become disabled. There were occasions I woke up late due to disabled alarm. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks all for the heads-up. We're checking to see if this is a WorldMate related problem and will keep the forum updated.
Thanks Ramel. It's been a while back since I had problem with WorldMate and I didn't remember that you're the contact person for it. I've been in contact with Nir Galili about this problem instead. Any rate he told me today that you have fixed the problem and it is indeed so with my Clie, but I still get howling (long beep sound) at the end of HotSync.
This howling problem was fixed when I upgraded from 8.x to 9.0 and it seems like the devil has returned. Does anyone have this howling problem or is it just unique to my system?

Nir is our support contact and I'm the product manager, so we're both involved :)
Which version do you have now (the latest is 9.1.2)?
I have 9.1. It sounds like I need to upgrade mine to 9.1.2.
Ramel,
I checked your site and PalmGear a minute ago. They are still posting 9.1, not 9.1.2. Please post the link to 9.1.2.
Thanks

Dan,
9.1 should have worked. Send me your email address to Ramel@MobiMate.com and I'll try to have one of our engineers solve this problem directly with you.
