Hi, I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

Until recently I was using my NX80V with the PEGA-CC5 GPS car cradle. The NX80V developed a fault so I decided to purchase a used TG50 for use in the GPS cradle.

Long story short, I have tried installing the Navman SmartST v1.3 satnav software (supplied with the CC5) and part of the install process requires that you activate the software. This requires you to input the CD and SmartST registration codes, which are then checked live on the Navman site. The CD code is rejected as being incorrect. I have spoken to Navman support and they confirm that the code is correct but stated that I can only use the code once!!! They state that as the software was developed for Sony to bundle with the CC5 that I must refer the problem to Sony and request a new code.

I debated with them that it seems unlikely that Sony would be able to resolve this issue as it is the Navman server which is rejecting the code, but they are adamant.

I've now spoken to Sony support, they were very helpful, but the service advisor I spoke to has never come across this situation before and has taken my details and will try to get back to me within a week.

I can't believe it's this difficult. There must be other users of the CC5 who have needed to swap their Clies or who have sold the CC5 to someone else, who would of course be using a different Clie.

I must be missing something here! Any suggestions for getting the TG50 working with the CC5 would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks, Joe

PS: I am posting this on both the NX and TG forums.

I swapped from a NX73 to a TH55 no problem.

I went from th55/e to a tg50 and then back to my th55/e no problems. . .but for the US, I've got Streetfinder C3 so not same situation.

Good luck--seems like they could resolve this for you. I find it hard to believe that Sony's never run into this situation before. . .

Thanks for both the comments. I've still not resolved the problem. I have so far submitted three e-mails via the Navman support website and not received a reply, just automatic acknowledgements.

I've now tried forwarding the query via e-mail to a couple of other contact e-mail addresses at Navman hoping that someone will have the courtesy to at least reply.

Seems a pretty shabby way to treat customers to me.

I'll let you know how I get on.

RESULT!!!

I received an e-mail from Navman support today saying that they had resolved the authentication code for me. I've now activated the SmartST software and it's all working as it should. Thanks to Navman for providing the fix.

I'm delighted!
