Hi guys, I was wondering... Is it possible to get a version of Linux on my UX50? If so, can someone give me specific steps or website link to get it installed to the card and working? I want to be able to do more things that are possible with a normal desktop or laptop on my UX. Thanks alot!

Sorry. And if you like the UX50 design, get a Linux based PDA like c1000/c3100 ;)

I wish it were that easy...I don't have the money to just buy another $400+ handheld. I guess I'm just stuck with the UX50 for awhile.

What do you want from Linux that Palm OS can't do? We might be able to help you out... :D

You know, when it really comes down to it, I was really expecting too much from the thing and kind of regret buying it right now. My UX has no mods or anything other than the basics and a few free programs. I have found many things that would expand its functionality, but I am just a broke teenager and have no money to put into this thing. The most disappointing thing to me about the UX is its lack of things it can do on the internet, like stream video, play games, watch Flash animations. I was originally going to use the organizing programs for school, but I have learned that they do not allow them and are quick to discipline for bringing electronics like that with you. I thought that putting Linux on it would allow me to do more of the things I said earlier and make me feel like the thing was little more worth buying. Maybe you guys know of some free programs to make the UX a little more...fun I guess without having to spend much more money on it. Thanks a lot, maybe something will come up!

LinUX although it sounds could won't happen due to no one is willing to hack drivers that wil allow the UX to run Linux. Also, if you really want LinUX, get a Zaurus SL-C1000 or older. The older models are in the 200 range. Go to ww.conics.net
Zaurus = UX - Palm OS + Linux + More Processing Power + VGA + Dual Card - Wireless

Yea I’ve seen those. I would have to think a little bit before buying a new device, although the Clie is lacking in some areas, I'm willing to deal with it.
