Hello all,

My battery doesn't hold its charge like it used to and I am afraid I will have to buy a new one.

I saw some of them on ebay and some on TigerDirect(ux50 Parts center).

Which one do you guys recommend and is it an easy install ?

Where should I buy my battery from ? Has any of you successfully replaced their battery and what was the result ?

Thanks in advance,
Bye :-)

Hi,

I recently changed my batteries too. The best value is probably on eBay--that's where I got mine from. I bought 2 Running battteries (because of shipping discount) + the screwdriver (funny, cause all of my screws are no longer 5 stars) from "samwong2062". 5 star screwdriver is probbaly most ideal, but you really don't need it. A screwdriver from eyeglass kit, or your local hardware (I got mine from Lowe's) can be your replacement. When opening, please becareful & pull the unit off very gently, because the speaker wires is connected from the bottom 1/2 to the other 1/2. BTW, make sure you backup the files before pulling the battery out. All in all, it is fairly easy :)

Great !

I ordered them from the same buyer.

How is the new battery doing ? Did you notice any difference vs the old one? Is it back to where it was when it was new ?

Thanks in advance,

Can't say, as I got my UX used. The previous seller used it very sparingly; good for cosmetics, bad for battery life.

People have commented that the replacement battery is equal to the original battery performance.

www.laptopsforless.com has UX50 internal batteries as well; I got my UX50 used, but I'm not sure I'm getting as much juice out of the "new" replacement battery as I did from the Sony one-- I need to check mAh. Could be I just remember wrong (most likely). The replacement I got ws manufactured Dec 2005 thogh, so very fresh.
