A while back, I installed a new printer driver and since then I have been unable to hotsync. I am using windows XP and if I log out and log into my wife's account I am able to hotsync just fine. When using my account I get the following error when trying to hotsync- "HotSync operation was interrupted. Some of your data was NOT backed up. For details tap HotSync Log on the HotSync screen." THe log says- "An application on the PC failed to respond to a confirmation query. This application may need to be restarted."

I have tried restarting the HotSync Manager and the clie desktop, but nothing seems to fix this. I no longer have the sony installation cd's, so I cannot reinstall the drivers and other software. any ideas what is causing this? it is a pain to have to log out of my account everytime i need to sync.

thanks

-Dave

Something other than the installation of the printer has changed for your profile on the PC. Otherwise, you would not be able to sync your Clie under your wife's account. Go to http://www.sonyclie.org/ and see if the installation software for your handheld is available. Reinstall the software and see if this clears up the problem.

I emailed the admins of that site to get a login to download the software, but i haven't heard back yet. is there anywhere else to get a copy of the palm desktop for clie? it is not available on the sony website.

I was able to download the software from the site and reinstalling the software has fixed the problem. too bad sony has abandoned its customers so quickly and forces us to go through underground channels like these.
