Pebbles PC also, which is MAGNIFICENT software for remote controlling your pc. You can even add shortcuts for any key on your keybord, mousepads, and keys to run things in programs, such as tasks as open, find, close, scroll, and the like. all on your palm.

Thanks. And I though that palmgear has newest versions! aargg! But I try that next time...

Edit:

PalmVNC 2.0.5 looks definitely better than the old version. However I could use some tips so could someone help with settings? I'm quite poor with these server and hosting and remote control stuff, just too much options and settings :o

Hi,

cool, PalmVNC seems to be a nice toy for my TH55. :)

It was very easy to configure it for my local LAN. I just opened the configuration dialog through the tray icon, activated Accept socket connections and set the password. Then I run the VNC-Application on my Palm, entered the IP address of my local PC (Use ipconfig /all in the commandline to get it) typed the password et voilą: It works. :)

P.S.: Don't forget to set your firewall to allow the desired connections.

It should be relatively easy to set up...

First, get a VNC server from somewhere - I like TightVNC myself, but RealVNC is the original. Google for them.

Once it's installed and WinVNC (Windows) or Xvnc (Linux) is running, you just load up PalmVNC on your TH55, click Connect and then fill in the gaps!

Connection name: What ever you want
Server name: The IP address of your computer
Display no.: As it says, 1 for Linux, 0 for Windows.
Server Password: Set this to whatever you set the password to for WinVNC/Xvnc

IIRC, the rest can be left at defaults.
Hit OK, the Connect.

Assuming you don't have a firewall blocking (If you do, unblock port 5900 (Windows)/5901 (Linux)), and assuming your TH55 can actually connect to your network, it should find the VNC server and let you control it.

It is very painful 'tho, esp. if your PC has a large screen!!!! :D

um, easy to setup lol :D because i'm still getting error. It says that that it can't connect to pc's ip address. I even put zonealarm down for a while so I could see can it connect but it didn't :o However i did also download TightVNC server before all that. Also, TightVNC ask always "did you type host name correcly?" so more help please  where I can even get the host name? I didn't even figure how to unblock the port... but still trying...

Hi,

did you follow the instructions Cyker and I gave you? (Especiallly the password on your PC an your Palm?) How do you try to connect? Via WLAN to your local PC? Maybe you need to check your router settings (if any involved).

Yea I tryed. I tryed using wlan. I use it always in this kind of apps where you need connection. But yeah, I will check those settings...

Edit:

I did check those settings but problem was that I weren't sure what I was looking for. However I did open port 5900 for PalmVNC many ways but it didn't still let me use the PalmVNC. I also tryed three different ip address put to my th55 PalmVNC but it always says that error that it can't connect to ip address.

Nevertheless this sucks quite hard when you must do so must trouble that get this working. I remember that before I succeeded get working this kind of app and windows did show on my palm. It was defititely cool :). But I'm quite sure that it wasn't PalmVNC. It was some other software though it came commercial :(...

Get the newest version of PebblesPC from their website if interested. Works fine for me. Though I have a Zire31.

Wow! PalmVNC is amazing...I have 2 Qs for knowledgeable users:

1.How do you get right-click mouse functionality to work using the TX. The userguide says to select the address book hard key (doesn't work...just scrolls) and the apphas a Send-> Right Click command (does nothing)

2. I'm using a Slingbox to monitor my home. When the server side Video Hook Driver is enabled the Slingbox has no picture. When I disbale the driver, the Slingbox picture returns. Any idea what's going on here?

2. you need a video hook driver on the client device also (to sync the video signal). palmvnc doesnt support that since there is no video hook driver for the palm o/s

you probably mean mobilets (http://www.ddhsoftware.com/mobile_ts.html). its use microsoft terminal services protocol, so you can only connect to windows o/s.
also there is remoteplus (http://www1.smartcell.com/web/products/product.aspx?id=14) which is basiclly the same.

re Right-clicking:
PalmVNC's documentation is based on a standard PalmOS device, but Palm and Sony began deviating from this standard so the documentation no-longer applies in a lot of cases.

The best thing to do is try the buttons and see which one you get a RMB (Right mouse button) response from.

On my TH55, it is the second button which acts as a RMB; This is labelled as the Memopad button.

Hi,

glad to hear that. Maybe you can describe the problem and the solution for other users which may have the same problem?

well yeah of course :) it may not help because it was all about the ip address :p lol... i did just try with wrong ip address (but I did try different ips) all over again :(.. but I also changed some settings from palmvnc but I don't remember which so :o.... they shouldn't matter anyway, right. What I know default settings should work.
