Hi,

I understand (from reading different threads) that the speaker on the NX is pretty much the same quality as the one on the NZ - but what about the microphone?

I often record musicians playing piano and singing with my NX, and the recording quality is less than satisfying. Does the NZ do a better job at recording audio with its microphone? Any ideas if Sony will be releasing a PDA with a better mic?

There's more involved than just a mike. There is the sampling rate and amplifier bandwidth considerations. Higher quaility recordings may require more intensive cpu processing power and more memory.

i am happy with the quality of the voice recorder. its even sensitive enough to work well inside its case or my pocket, and easilly picks up on someone accross the other side of the room.

but thats an idea, i might try recording me on the piano later.
