I have just been lucky enough to find a mint condition nx70v on eBay to replace my trusted, but battered, existing model. So, I need to take all the data / settings / programs from one to the other. I have looked thru the various threads but can't find recommendations for a good way to do this. When I try Msbackup on the existing device then Msrestore on the new device, it just tells me that the data is for a different device - is there any way around this?

you could try resco backup?
or maybe it is because they have different HotSync names, and if you sete them the same it will work?
hope that helps.

What I've sucessfully done to make this move from one device (an nx70) to another (an nx60) was to first make a backup of the source device (the nx70.) Then I hard reset the new device (the nx60) and did a backup of it. This backup had only the basic default items. I then copied the databases and programs from the source device's backup into the mostly empty new devices backup directory. Then do a restore and bingo, the new device is a clone of the old.

I agree with dpsguy. It may be a good opportunity to clean up a little by fresh installing your programs, and then transferring your address book, etc over. Good luck!
