Think I'll mention this since I haven't read anything about NR's back button before.

I've owned:
S300
N710C/760C
T665C

and now, NR70 and I have to say the back button is the worse of all the series. I didn't mind the little "knob" on the T665C, the NR's is way worse.

Anyone know how to make it pop out more or whatever?
I took mine apart, but didn't see anyway possible to modify it.

I traded my NR more than 3 times due to some quality control issues. Although dead pixels is on top of the list, the back button is not far behind.

You should exchange your unit for another one... if possible.

That's the ONE thing I hate about my NX. SAME THING! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

My NR back button was useless. The one on my NX60 is functional at least, but I'm still not thrilled with it.

I passed my NR70 to my wife and the hinge got so tight on it the top plastic ended up splitting around the hinge. I'm hoping Sony will fix it under waranty, but I doubt it. The NR was definitely the worst Clie I've owned quality wise.

I've owned the S300 and N710C as well and never had a problem with them. My frustration over the NR70 briefly sent me over to a Palm Tungsten T, but I sold it and bought a NX60.

I doubt I will ever buy another Sony based on my extreme dissatisfaction with the NR.

I realize that "things are better" now but I will find it hard to give money to them again for any product.

goodness........
I've had my NR70v for what will be a year in May. I haven't had any quality issues with mine at all (except the MS prob - which asctally hasn't happened for months and I never took it apart to fix it). My friend hasn't had a prob with his either...

sorry you all are so dissatisfied..

I have a refurb NR70, and I bought it in Nov. of 2002.

As my first Sony Clie PDA, I thought it would be an enjoyable, but quality wise, it was not. The back button is so "in" that I can't even press it. I need to press it w/ my fingernail. The hinge is so squeky (sp?) and you need to "snap" the hinge to lock it in place (I'm scared to open the NR to fix it...).

I'll live, i hope...:( :p

Squeaky and/or stiff hinge is cured by silicone sprayed on dental floss...
