I just got my 128mb memory card and I loaded up some mp3 files. When I try to play it I get an error message that says:
"This track is not available because of the following reasons: Does not support the copyright system or the file format. The Memory Stick media is write protected"
I made the media and it's not copyright-protected, and it's definitely mp3 format. The MS is not on "lock". How do I take off it's write protection?

i am having the same problem. i thought it was a markspace thing. are you using a mac?
What is the MP3 sampling frequency and bit rate? Mine only accepts 44.1 kHz and 96 kbps.

Check if they are VBR, if they are then they don't work. If you're using an NR I don't think other bitrates would cause a problem as long as they' re >=96.

What color is your Memory card? If you use a white one, the problem would be solved.

I've played plenty of VBR mp3's on my NR70v. I don't know what's wrong with yours.

Most will work with your 'Purple' stick...
Check your bit and sample numbers...
I have a purple stick and some songs grabbed off 'Kazaa' work and some do not...

I used to have this problem too with some mp3's. I corredted it by editing the ID3 tags. Basically I just deleted them and then typed in only the artist and track names. Then they worked fine.

When I have this problem I just make the mp3 again
How?
By making the file to wav file and converting it again to mp3
It should work from 32kbps to 260 kbps. Mine didn't work with 320kbps. Guess it's too much to process for a 66mhz procesor :)
It takes some time to do that but you want to hear the music rite?

Convert it w/ dbpoweramp, set sampling rate to 44.1khz, the NR will play VBR, and the kbps range is 64-320 (most info is in the manual you know)
If the sampling frequency is weird, it will give you a copyright error, so make sure it is 44.1, also, there are a few mp3's, that get messed up when converted, soemtimes they won't play right.

If you'r MP3 doesn't have things like an artist name and CD name and stuff, the audioplayer on my NR doesn't read them. Using winamp (or properties in XP) you can add or change the names. In some cases the Audioplayer still doesn't read them, so you'll just have to download or convert them again.

Or you can go to windows, right click, properties, and change the fields in there, which is wat I've done, and it works, for my ID-3 compatible mp3-cd player, i do use winamp tho.
