I installed that skin from the site and after that every time I try to launch Audio Player it gives me a "Cannot find skin DB for the Audio Player"!!!

What the hell did I do, and how can I fix it????

Thanx guys,
Migey

Skin for Audio Player 2.1 cannot be used for Audio Player 2.2. You need to install a skin for Audio Player 2.2.

I tried that...

I installed the ones that come on the cd. It still said the same error :(

Thank you though.

Try a soft reset and see if it detects the skin after that.

I thought I tried that before and it didn't work. But I tried again just to make sure.

I syched the new skin then did a soft reset right away. No go, same error.

Would a hard reset help any? If so how do you do one, I have never had to do one.

I don't know the whole situation and I may be wrong on this instance but I have noticed that if you install programs with data bases some seem to need to be on the rom of the clie and not on the memorystick, seems like some programs just can't read data from the stick as well. You can always go in and delete the files. At least I have been able to so far. Maybe you can just go in and move the files to the clie from the memorystick. Hope that helped but if not maybe more information might .

Hard reset is the last resort . Dont do one unless its necessary. Its like formatting your harddisk. Well since you asked,
When you poke the little hole at the back press the power button at the same time for about 5 seconds. After you release the power button, a promt will come out and ask whether you want to hard reset, if yes, push the up button.
Once more, dont do it unless its really necessary.

Sorry I should have specified. None of the stuff I'm talking about is going on the Memory Stick(except the MP3s of course).

All I did was install that Audio Player Skin... then all hell broke loose ;)

In this case, i'm very sure the Audio pLayer skin dont have to be in ROM. Its just that 2 knins cannot be in RAM at the same time. It will override each other. Thats why you have to keep additional skins in the memory stick, which I do.

Dont worry, it had actually happened to me before. Here''s what you do, if I can remember right what I did. Delete the present skin you have now. Do a soft reset. Then install the skin from the CD. Do a soft reset. It should work. I hope.

I will try it but I dont think I can delete the current skin. I think I tried that...

Here it goes though.

Ok before I do something really stupid.

I should NOT be playing with anything in the ROM right???

Yes. If you have McFile , you can delete the skin easier.

It sounds like you guys are not doing it the proper way. This has been discussed a couple of times before this site went down and all previous msgs wiped out...

In summary, you need to put the new skin prc on a Memory Stick first. Turn off the "read only" flag for the existing skin that currently resides in the internal memory - apps like Filez will do. Then copy the new skin over to internal (which will replace the current skin file).

Hope this helps. :)

One more thing: There is absolutely no need to do a hard reset for this. Thought I'd mention to save you guys the hassle.

ok thanx guys. What happened was that I had two skins on my ROM and one had a size of 0 kb. So I deleted that one and it worked right after that.

Thanx for all your help guys :D

A few people mentioned programs through this thread (McFile, Filez). When I had this problem (all of two minutes ago) I downloaded Filez off of Palmgear (freeware! woohoo!) and used it to uncheck the "Read Only" tag on the AudioPlayerSkin file. Then I transferred the saved file from my Memory Stick. . . you may be able to simply sync it now that the R/O tag is off.

Kev!
