Forgive my ignorance please.
I want to be able to use Netfront but I don't have much idea about how it works.
Is it like AvantGo (only better?) or can I sit and read stuff directly off the internet whilst waiting for my flight rather than downloading it and reading it later (which I presume I can do as well)
Is there any "dummies book of ...." appropriate that I should read up on.

NetFront is a web browser. You can go to 1src.com, and it will be the real time page. You cannot access a site without a WiFi connection :)

If you have a Memory Stick, you can save web pages in /palm/Programs/MSWeb and access them with Netfront through "Open --> Saved Files"
This is not optimal since it eats up space on the MS, but I don't think you'll like to install JPluck and Plucker... ;-)

@Bill.bags, i highly recommend that you check out the manuals on the CD that came with your TH55. they cover all the basics you'll need to know about NetFront.
just use the navigation panel in the left side of the browser window to get to "NetFront v3.1 for CLIE". There will be a link to the NetFront manual. I checked it out a long time ago when I had my Tj37, and I found that it was quite extensive and detailed. It should answer most, if not all your questions.
hope that helped!

i forgot to mention that you can save HTML page files on your memory stick and view then in NetFront whenever you want.

Thanks for your comments. I reviewed the cd - it has lots on it but nothing about Netfront. I guess trial & error will be the best recipe

Billy.bags,
Do you have any experience with wi-fi? Do you have a wireless access point at home, and have you ever set one up? To get NetFront working, you need to go to Preferences/Network/Details and scan for a wireless access point. When you are within range of one, the SSID will show up after a scan in the "Auto Connect" window. If it is "open," you should be able to connect without any configuring. If it shows "WEP" you will need to enter the "key" in the "WEP" section of the "Edit" Setup window. From the Preferences/Network screen, once you are able to successfully "Connect," you can exit and launch Netfront and it should connect right up. Some cafes and free hotspots will automatically launch their Welcome/login page. A coffee shop I go to will give you a userID/password for free with a purchase. There is a timeout of 2 hrs. Other free hotspots just connect you straight to the net. Non-free hotspots will launch their "pay and sign on" page! :( You will want to set a "home page" in NetFront (Preferences). I use one that loads fast and is useful (Google). Can't cover everything here, but hopefully this will give you a start to experiment with and come back with questions/problems! Good luck!

The combo works absolutely fantastic . . . no fuss . . . reliable as taxes! :eek:I don't deny the usefullness of Plucker (http://www.plkr.org/) and JPluck (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpluck) (has anyone tried Plucker Desktop (http://desktop.plkr.org/) ?), what I'm saying here is that, in comparison to saving web pages directly to the Memory Stick, it's a time-consuming task to install Java, JPluck, Plucker and to configure all streams so that every web page gets "plucked" :-D

Another networking problem:
I can get online, but when I use either Graffiti or Decume to enter an address the TH55 errors out and says "reset" required.

I have to turn Word Comp off to do text entry within NetFront.

Thanks,
Your advice is well noted.
I hope that I can get this moving in the next few days when I have an opportunity.
Thanks again
Bill

thanks. it was wordcomp. turned it off and netfront+graffiti/decuma works as designed.
it's a frustrating conflict, but I can live with it.
many thanks.
