Not sure how this happend, but downloaded the update for ClieViewer 1.1 . Following install and Reset: Fatal Exception and lost all my data.
Hot Sync no good for backup in this case as it tries to install more than what can be held in memory or else the desktop file is corrupted.
I guess it's time to start paying attention to Backup Data.

Yep, sorry to hear, experience is a good teacher, backups galore and yes, the desktop is all too easily corrupted.
Make rolling backups of your MS too. It only takes a few minutes.
The Clie can hard reset itself at anytime, no warning.

I suppose it can since both use basically the same OS.
Frequent multiple backups are a life saver, especially power users who have every app under the sun on their clie.

Apps are easy to restore if you keep the original files. Data is what is critical to most.

It's not so easy when some like myself have a 100+ reg apps. It's a lot of work with reg codes, settings, and such. Believe me it's not so easy for some. Of course if you don't have anything on your unit, then it's easy.

I use NZ with Clieviewer -- no problem at all. Maybe you got some appls conflict with it.
I do need Backup but i always keep about 1MB left for phototaking only. No space for backup. MS backup only happen in my NZ when I got CF driver or MS Pro patch.

Yes, it can be time consuming but it ain't hard work, lol. Real life keeps busy so having 100s of apps on a handheld would be ridiculous.
I would be curious how often anyone really used all 100 apps. Is like collecting baseball cards or something? I have more than you do thing?
