I need help. I am trying to make the connection between Sunrise Desktop and SunriseXP. SunriseXP's GUI and layout is identical to Sunrise Desktop's, so I am guessing it was the same developer for both, but Sunrise Desktop is MUCH MUCH better than SunriseXP. ANY CLUES?

Thanks

Sunrise and SunriseXP are made by the same developer. SunriseXP will eventually take the place of Sunrise desktop, but it is still in alpha/beta stage so not all the features are there yet.

Laurens, the developer of both applications (Sunrise is now Opensource), often responds to posts about both these apps at mobileread.com. He's very helpful.

Not sure of all the reasons. I think Sunrise was cross platform, needed java installed. SunriseXP is written in C or C+ and is Windows only

Sunrise XP is just barely in Beta. There is plenty more information at mobileread. I'm sure Laurens (the developer) will be glad to answer your questions and address your feature requests over there.

i'm glad i did a search on 1src! i had reformatted my computer and downloaded sunrise xp and was wondering what happened to the program???
the "send to sunrise" on the right click menu is no longer in the menu for example...
(or did i get a weird installation? isn't there supposed to be a "send to sunrise" in the rightclick menu when you are looking at a webpage?)

in addition to the question above (Do you get a rightclick menu "send to sunrise" when you are viewing internet pages on ms explorer on your computer?)...

...I forgot to also ask: is there a program that lets you View plucked documents on your computer (or a program that does a reverse conversion from pdb to htm)?

Yes, there should be a right click "Send to Sunrise" option... You might have to look for it independently as it might not come bundled with the download. However, I use FireFox and was unable to find a plugin for Sunrise XP - so I was forced to roll back to the latest version of Sunrise. I really use the send to sunrise option a lot.

2nd - PDA convertor is a fabulous program for converting all sorts of doc to plucker format and enables the backwards conversion from plucker to text as well. http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/pdaconverter.shtml

Hope this helps:D

wow thanks PinCushionQueen!!! I ended up just going back to "Sunrise desktop" + installing java support + installing Plucker desktop and gave up on "Sunrise XP" so now i have the right click menu again. I just downloaded pda converter and am going to try it out : )

I'm still using this developer's JPluck and it's working too good to mess with anything else! ;)

DUDE!!!! You are missing out though....From what I've read in other threads on Sunrise (and XP), the only thing I'm "missing out" on is bugs! :p JPluck just WORKS! Why change?

SunriseXP is bug filled, but Sunrise isn't. I haven't really tried Jpluck before though...so I will see.

I went directly with SunriseXP (currently using v2.0 beta 3) and haven't had any isses with the nearly two dozen feeds I routinely D/L to my TX. What bugs have you experienced?

Well, I haven't gotten to try beta 3 yet, but I had lots of problems with the last version trying to retrieve webpages.
