I am a new owner of a palm T|X. I installed a bunch of programs at first - uninstall manager, ljp emulator, tcpmp, filez, messageeaseST, palm PDF, and AOL from this address: (http://www.aol.co.uk/aim/palm/)

While using the palm it reset, and went into an endless reset loop at the palm logos. I hard resetted, deleted backups, and attempted to (painfully) narrow down which program was causing this reset loop by installing each program one at a time, testing it for hours, and trying to duplicate the reset loop. Each time that I didnt have aol installed, I had no problems. As soon as I put AOL on the palm - as soon as i did a normal reset (or it reset on its own), it would go into endless loop and i'd have to hard reset it.

To confirm that it was aol, i did hard reset, cleared backup, and installed AOL just by itself with no other programs. After hitting reset button, it went into endless loop at logo, so i'm pretty confident that it's AOL doing it.

The thing is, after browsing these forums, I'm seeing that some people are using AOL from the UK site. Also, while i was using AOL, i could send messages fine, but I could never see incoming messages to me.

My concern is, is it my particular T|X that is defective and has problems with certain software, if others can use AOL without problems? and if so, perhaps I should exchange mine for another one or try a different model altogether?

Does anyone use that specific AOL application on their T|X successfully without these reset loop problems?

Thank you so much in advance.

I couldnt get the AIM program from that site to work on my Palm TX. Just use Verichat!

Maybe that's what is causing my reset loop. I've been using my TX without any problems until recently. I installed AIM from that site recently also. Now any time the TX resets it goes into the reset loop.

I'll try taking AIM off and see what happens.

Well, I don't use the AIM UK client very often, but neither just having it on my TX nor using it has ever caused a reset let alone a reset loop. Don't know what to tell you here. You say that even without using it - just the fact it is installed on your TX - causes such a loop to occur upon soft reset? Seems very very odd to me...

did some more research:

According to http://www.palmfacts.com/devices/tx/software.php

# AIM
the free AIM app that isn't officially released or supported anymore causes all sorts of resets and problems on the T|X, even when it is not running

yes, the minute i put it on, the next time it resets, either manually or by itself - it'll go into an endless palm logo reset loop.

I keep hearing some people have no problems with it, while others do. Since I have problems with a totally fresh install + *only* aim uk, perhaps those that dont have problems have some software on there that is preventing problems. Something like UDMH maybe?

I just deleted the UK AIM client from my T|X and voila a week without a reset! That was the only thing I deleted. :)

I don't use Aim and its not installed.

I've just been given a Tx as a replacement for my T5 which died on me 3 times, and was sent bak to Palm twice.

I've had it a week and it has also gone into permanent reset loop.
Even if I do a hard reset it just starts up and loops again.
Only gets as far as the "Palm Powered" sreen then resets.

Considering just letting it run untill battery goes flat and trying hard reset again.

Happended when I ran Mirror.prc
I use NeatFreak pack which is supposed to be compatible and even ran Mirror in a sandbox incase it caused problems.

I had the same problem. Deleted it after only being on TX for a few minutes!
