View Full Version : HandStory Problem

Hi,

I'm using the latest version of Handstory for clip stuff, and like it a lot. But sometimes it happens that when I exit Handstory and go to another app directly (with the help of some hacks like McPhling, 1 Button Pro, HBX and etc), the other apps will look very ugly, like its display setting changes to low-res. But if I don't use HandStory to view clip, only for docs or memo, then this won't happen. And this doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while. Once I exit Handstory to LauncherX when finished reading some clips, even LauncherX became low-res :-(. But ZLauncher never fails on this :-). After a soft reset, everything goes to normal.

It's very strange thing. I don't know if anyone out there has the same problem like I'm having here. Is there any cure on this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers!

I use SwitchDash 0.44 and HandStory Suite 2.3 together with no problems. But, this probably is some sort of hack problem. What PDA are you using and what hacks are active? Do you have HandStory excluded from programs like the built-in Hi Res Assist or add-ins like SwitchDash? You should exclude it because they aren't needed for HandStory.

I had a number of display issues that went away when I deleted Switchdash. Switchdash is now on my banned list for my Clie. Easy for me to say, since none of my apps on MS needed HR assist disabled anyway.

I haven't had any problems with SwitchDash 0.44 except for PiDirect II 2.2. I solved that by reverting to PiD 2.0. OTOH, I've been thinking that I don't have any non-hi res apps these days on my device just as you say. I may take a look today and see if I have any reason to use SD anymore. It has been a great aid in the transition period, though, and the developer was very responsive during my PiD 2.2 problems.

Well, it didn't take long to find apps that needed help. WordSmith's file display, BBVFS, ASCII Chart were amongst the first ones checked that came in at low res. Looks like SD will continue to be my trusty helper for some time yet.

I'm using an SJ30, and yes, I'm using SwitchDash as well, but HandStory is exclueded from the HiRes Assit list. It's just the problem is not consistant. It happens sometimes, not all the time. And after a soft reset, the problem will be gone. But it will appear again sometimes when I'm using HandStory.

Maybe it's some kind of hack problem. Have to check it again.

Anyway, thanks for all the info. This forum is always great and helping me a lot.

You're welcome. Hacks are more of an art than a science. I have one hack whose only fault AFAIK is that I cannot turn off my T665C when PopUp Names is open and the other hack is active. That's truly wierd as they don't share any system call chains, but I compensate by only enabling the "troublesome" hack when I need it.
