OK, I got the darned thing communicating with the linksys finally... and I can internet with the silly thing and even get mail ... BUT I had to turn encryption off on the Linksys... so I have got to find a way to get it back on... Thank you to all who took the time to help... ps... the Sony site actually has loads of help....

Congratulations! Happy Surfing, I never looked at the Sony Site.

I know the Linksys likes 128 bit hex best. It was the only common denominator for everything in my setup. In the Linksys, you can set it up so that the only devices with their MAC address program can access it, with or without a WEP key.
