Help !

Blimey, just got the sony wifi card for my NX70 and what a bunch of A*** !

I wanted to connect to my ad-hoc network at home for wireless hotsync/anywhere web browse & email. Following the instructions in the accompanying manual I specified an IP address and the correct submask but no joy. To cut a long story short I stayed up all night trying to get the thing to work and it was only until I checked the auto assign IP & DNS that it connected and web browsing was possible ?!?!
Has anyone else experienced this? perhaps it is the way my PC wifi card is set up? DHCP is definately switched off btw.

i would really appreciate some contact by anyone who understands this wifi stuff as I am unsure if I have configured my sitecom pc card to give the best performance.

Also, is it me or does Netfront stink !!!!???

Please contact v.stephenson@clara.co.uk if you can offer some help outside of this forum

Cheers all
Vincent

Congrats! Be thankful you got it to work :)!

Just one night?? I spent at least 3 days to get mine working.

Auto settings are fine, DCHP off is okay for adhoc and one unit.

Ha, I was never a fan of NetFront!

Leave PowerSaveOn unchecked!

ha ! thanks, I will go to bed a happy man now.
Still dont understand why manual insists IP be entered and then says nothing about DNS/gateway etc (especially when it is apparently unnecessary)
Anyone know anything about the following on my wifi pc card:
short or long preamble?
RTS threshold (low or high number?)
Fragmentation (low or high number?)
Listen interval (low or high number?)
Looking for better throughput, interference aint a problem (no other RF device for miles, unless cows come with some special equipment thses days)

cheers

All those settings are fixed in the driver for the Clie and not published. We do know that the Sony used to only work on long preamble, but now can support short preamble(length of packet headers) with the new driver

Just make sure PowerSaveOn is unchecked, that'll kill your speed and reliability!
