Hey,
Does anyone know when this Bug Lord game will be coming out?? It was supposed to be out last month, but nothing. I emailed them and i did not get any response. This game looks pretty awesome. An wann get it, but no idea when it will be out! ??? any ideas?

Looks like there isn't a demo because the game is not complete yet. You can pre-order it, but it is not out yet.
I'd be interested to know when it's coming out as well.

There's a hi-res OS5 version as well according to pdarcade.com, and if you look on the screenshots page it says "OS5 hi-res screenshots coming soon".

kbranch, is there an OS5 version?? will one be available? when? also by close to a release date, do you mean this year? in the next few months? this month?
I too am interested in this game. However like many others am a little frustrated that the company doesn't seem to respond to emails and that they would actually charge to pre-order the game with very little detail about the game or a release date!
what can you tell us kbranch?? give us something, anything!!
the game does look really cool though, can you tell us if it's a good game?

I can't really say much since I signed an NDA, but as far as I know there will be an OS 5 version. So far it looks really good, probably the best RTS for handhelds and better than many for Windows.

W O W, finally a good RTS game (the ones we really need for PALM) for my Clie NX70 !!!! Maybe this will encourage others developers to make RTS's with great graphics and superb sound for OS 5 (with HI-RES 320*480 of course). Plz release this game ASAP!!! Hope there are more on the way.

The PocketPC version was released yesterday and the developers said they will be releasing a palm version in the next few weeks. I don't think the first release will be high-res but that is in the works. The ppc version is really fun though. They are starting to gear up for the major palm beta testing now. Keep watching www.buglord.com their will be a demo when it is done. Handango will also carry the game.

Hi guys - i am the lead designer for BugLord. We released Pocket PC & Windows this week & plan on releasing the PALM version next Wed if all goes well with our final testing this week. We WILL be creating a high rez version for Palm OS5 as soona s we finish up the 3 versions. We have already created mopst of the new interface elements and just have to tune & tweak for OS5. Hopefully in May. We are 100% committed to making this game the best experience possible on as many platforms as possible.

Holy cr@p! $30 for this game!
It better be the most amazing game I have ever seen on the palm OS for that price. And I'm not a complainer when it comes to price at all, but I think this is one of the most expensive games thus far on this OS.
Looks like a cool game. Gonna try and get our hands on a review copy so we can get to work on a review. We can always update it as well once the hires comes out.

I would pay it (though how about offering a special for pre-ordering the OS5 version like you are with the regular version?). PC games cost more than that. For a decent game with some depth thats fun to play and has hi-res it would be worth it to me. I am pretty sick of puzzle games and the other simple ones we usually get (yes, i know there are a few good ones out there (but not many)).

I'm a beta tester and the OS5 is supposed to be released to us soon (that's all we know). It will be comming out though. Also, I don't know where the $30 price came from but it sells for $19.99 on handango and the developer's site.

so it's been a month since the last post on this thread... still no BugLord,
if any of the beta testers are listening (reading)... what's up?? any idea if Buglord for palm is still happening?? or did they get together with the marketing team of Hexacto and make a promise they knew they couldn't fullfill??

I am not convinced to pre-register a product when it is still vapourware and there is nothing in the website that shows the condition of sale - ie. if they do not deliver a piece of software by a certain date or within 2 months of purchase, then you are allowed to claim a refund or that if you are not satisfied with the software since there was no demo software.
In other words, very little in the way of recourse if disatisfied or vapourware....

it seems silly to pay for a product that has no expected release date!
personally I think if the BugLord people do release something for Palm OS it will be a low-res version... which in my opinion is just a waste of time! I know I may be going on a bit of a rant here, but why would any company in this day spend all their time making a low res 160x160 game??? Are companies even making low res devices still???? it seems to me that for at least the last year or so every device released has been at least hi-res.

I was looking at some game reviews and came across BugLord. I forgot about this game... did anyone get it to work on their OS5 device? It always looked like a cool game... but it always crashed my NZ so I was never able to play it!
Never worked on my NX. Always a crash.
The game runs well on my NZ90. However, low-res is too bad :( You almost cant see anything - so small territory is available for viewing.
But! The game is great.. I am awaiting for hi-res version..
Cons: you can navigate the game field _only_ by tapping on the map in the left corner. Err.. it's strange and inconvenient.

So I guess it has been updated at handango.com. Let's see.
Finally it does not crash. Reminds me of warfare. Cannot use the whole HiRes+ screen that I can find:(

I don't think I will play this game without HiRes..... + the High quality doesn't support my UX-50 :(
Otherwise, it should be a fun game....
yeah..the screen is too small for my tastes...if im getting attacked, it doesnt look like id have enough time to react since I cant see them coming due to the lack of screen real estate.
And call me "cutting-edge" but a game like this should be hi-res for best gameplay. Not that you cant without it, but distinguishing the insects gets a lil annoying w/o it IMO.
sorry..no "bugs" is good but a lot of other quirks prevent me from purchasing this for now.

Yeah, it's ashame they made this for low-res screens! I mean, why make a game that is for 160x160 displays??? It seems that all new Palms and Cie's over about $150-200 have at least hi res 320x320 screens! seems they would have designed the game for this resolution at least? Oh well, if I had my old handspring Visor and it was 1999, then I'd be interested.
