I want to make room on my 760C for new applications I want to use like Docs To Go and Smart List To Go but my space is used up by applications I don't use like GMovie. I know how to delete applications I put on the Clie aftermarket but how do I get rid of the pre-installed ones?

Another guy was asking the same question in the T series forum. Read this (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10533).

I was actually able to clear up about 1.5MB out of the ROM. gMovie was one of the small apps that went out the door. They are other that are fairly big like ClieDemo, which is almost 6x the size of gMovie.

Despite the many users that report great success with JackSprat and JackFlash, it scares me. I have also read many post on several disucssion boards of horror tales of fried PDAs and wiped out ROMs. I would personally not recommend that route.

Alternatives I like are using Pidirect II to manage memory adn a top quality launcher like ZLauncher. PiDirect II can help you get apps and DBs out of the 8 MB of RAM you have on board. PiDirect will trick the PDA into thinking whatever is stored in the /Palm/Pidiret folder on the MS like it was in RAM. You can load an app like HanDBase or MiniCalc on the MS and synch documents your have stored in RAM. Any newer launcher can launch apps from MS which relieves your RAM, but you cannot synch most apps that have a conduit from the /Palm/Launcher directory. You can if the app is controlled by PiDirect.

I downloaded an evaluation of Jack Sprat and it found a total of 650 KB of free space available on my CLIE. I could not justify spending $30 to have the ability to move one large app from RAM to ROM (Agendus is over 530KB in size, for example).

My N610 usually runs with 1.8 MB free even with big programs like ZLauncher, McFile and Agendus running in RAM. My primetime apps with condits and non-changeable databases are controlled by PiDirect II while games, imaging apps and others are in the /Palm/Launcher folder on MS.

JS/JF manual is very well written. JackSprat warns you several time to make the ROM backup which you can do via MS or HotSync. Tanker Bob's Palm OS Page (http://www.tankerbob.com/palm/) has a primer for JS/JF. If an idiot like me can do it w/o any problem, anybody can do it, as long as you read and follow the manual that is.
